Just got a call from the ortho. They have received my brace and I’m booked in for Wednesday 2pm to get them fitted

A bionator looks really crazy! I couldn’t imagine having to wear that!

Yes, for correcting the overbite I had to wear a Bionator device followed by a twinblock. Usually you won´t have any choice after the ortodontist choses the applicances which would fit best to your treatment. And you´re lucky these devices are not that bad to wear, much more comfortable than a Bionator after being two separate pieces you can learn to talk easily and quick getting used to wear them...

That sounds like you had a lot! I wasn’t given any other option than the twin blocks sadly. She explained what they are and how they will work and asked again if I was sure I wanted to go ahead and once I confirmed she booked me back in to get impressions done and got everything she needed and then said they will call me in a couple of weeks once the appliance is ready, which should be this week!

I´ve been wearing them during my treatment after a Bionator. And - to be honest - the twinblicks have been much more comfortable than the Bionator. That are two separate devices but when closing the mouth it pushes the lower jaw forward.
Of course the twinblocks are more massive than a normal retainer, but like all removable appliances talking in the beginning is not easy. But after some practise wearing them for a few weeks that was easily possible again. If you have the choice, coose twinblocks.

Anyone on here had or have twin blocks braces? I now have to get them so I’m just seeing if anyone has any tips or experience with them. Should expand on this point, I had braces to straighten my teeth but I refused to get a twin block before because i was too scared to get them because of the way it affects your speech and how they look.. Now I have straight teeth but still have an overbite I realised I was still not happy so reluctantly accepted the twin block treatment.

I think a couple having braces together is great. Best wishes to both of you and I hope your treatment goes well and without too much discomfort.

My girlfriend will soon begin treatment with braces. She's currently undergoing the initial cleaning process. Soon, they'll have to remove four premolars and put some kind of device on her palate.

She's given me permission to keep track of her teeth here.

If this goes well, she might be inspired to create her own profile, but we need support.

I'm also already undergoing treatment. In fact, she chooses the color of my gummies every month. Last time, she chose orange and yellow for me, but before, she even chose pink! It's her favorite color. Any recommendations for when she starts? I thought of a striking combination the first day. They put rainbow on me the first day, lol. What do you recommend? She loves pastel colors.

Ich hab, mit nunmehr fast 55 Jahren, den Sprung gewagt und trag meine Brackets nun seit bald einem halben Jahr.
Mein Eindruck ist, dass ich damit für die Damen eher interessanter geworden bin ????
Auf jeden Fall, mit Sicherheit, nicht andersrum.
Trau dich und zieh‘s durch ????

Denke es doch mal so, wenn du eine Zahnspange hast, könnte das doch deine neu zu findende Partnerin gut finden!
Sie wird meinen, daß du an du noch an dir selbst arbeitest und damit positiv in die Zukunft schaust.
Also, wage deinen "Anlauf" und laß alles auf dich zukommen.

Ich wollte mal eine Rückmeldung geben.
Ich habe gekniffen...
... und ärgere mich jeden Tag darüber.
Allerdings bekomme ich die Kurve nicht.
Hinzu kommt dass ich seit ein paar Monaten keine
Partnerin habe und irgendwie der Meinung bin, dass eine Zahnspange hinderlich
für die Partnersuche wäre. Immerhin müsste ich die Spange vorraussichtlich mindestens
zwei Jahre tragen.
Ich weiß...der Gedanke ist bescheuert, ich kann ihn aber nicht abschütteln.
Ich denke trotzdem über einen neuen "Anlauf" nach.....

I got a tongue crib about 6 months ago. It is the biggest most intrusive I have seen. It long almost touching my jaw when I close my mouth and not only ont he front as it us usual but all the way around from band to band. When I close my mouth u cannot touch any teeth with my tongue. I will have at least a year but most likely the full treatment about 3 years with the tongue crib and 2.5 with braces. My ortho won't even talk about getting it off for a year and she will evaluate, but she is adamant and everytime we talk she says she wants it for the duration. We will see, for I have made the decision to at least have all this year, it makes it easier for me to eventually maybe accept to have it for the duration. It is extremely uncomfortable but I got used to it in about 2 months. After dreading and avoiding it for years once I got it it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and now seeing the results just removing the constant pressure from the tongue as well as the reminder to put it where it should I am so happy to finally have done it.

Can’t say I’ve heard of that kinda tongue crib either. That sounds really rough. That is one appliance I wouldn’t want.

The device is called a tongue crib or spikes.

Es ist wieder mal an der Zeit für ein kleines Update von mir...
Zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr gab es mal eine kleine Panne - Das Bracket am 21 hat sich mit einem leisen Knack, während dem Zähneputzen, vom Zahn gelöst. Natürlich war die Ordi zu und ich musste bis 7.1. warten, bis es die ersehnte Reparatur gab. Eigentlich unspektakulär, nur, dass ich dauernd mit der Zunge beim losen Bracket war und diese durch das Rumspielen bald leicht wund und gereizt war.
Nun hatte ich heute, einen Tag vorm 3-Monatsjubiläum, meinen zweiten Kontrolltermin mit Bogenwechsel.
Diesmal wurden statt den NiTi Bögen, steifere Edelstahlbögen eingesetzt. Zudem hat die KFO heute mit dem Lückenschluss begonnen.
Das heißt mir wurden in beiden Kiefern von 4-6 Edelstahlschlaufen eingebaut um die Zähne zu fixieren. Im Oberkiefer wurden je zwischen 3-4, sowie von 1-1 und im UK nur zwischen 1-1, Gummizüge eingesetzt, die die Lücken schließen sollen.
Das alles arbeitet jetzt erstmal wieder richtig, was die Nahrungsaufnahme, wie auch die Reinigung danach, wieder mal deutlich erschwert.
Bin aber sicher, dass sich das, nach ein paar Tagen, auch wieder gibt.

Nichts desto trotz bin ich nach wie vor superhappy mit meinem Entschluss und genieße die Zeit mit meiner Zahnspange.

Sprichst du da von einer offiziell vom KFO verordneten Spange? Weil 98% der KFOs würden für Erwachsene keine lose Spange mehr verordnen.
