It's a forum for discussion, I wouldn't consider it hijacking. None of it really bothers me at all, it's basically painless most of the time now. The only painful moments recently have come from hitting one of the screws with water when using a water flosser - they don't feel like they're particularly high-pressure until you hit the wrong spot!

I’m not very good at uploading photos. Sorry about that. First week day back to work was scary but I’m quite fortunate to be able to work from home. Even so I had meetings and it was still quite embarrassing. Few people asked to see it which was even more embarrassing. But it was good to get it over with and Its starting to get easier day by day. It’s definitely a weird experience

It's only the times when the orthodontist says "yes" that there is any evidence that they were asked - my mouth is filled with said evidence. I think if you're showing that you have thought about it and have a sound explanation, even if it's misguided, then they'll consider your request

I snore (annoys my wife a lot!) and would say I have mild congestion issues with nose breathing but I’m not a classic mouth breather while awake. I did an online consultation for smilewhite out of curiosity a while ago and the consultant mentioned that a plan would include an effort to ‘widen my smile and palate’ but she said they obviously only do it with aligners, not appliances. I’d be really interested to discuss it with a ‘real’ orthodontist in person though to see if I would benefit from a fixed appliance like yours! Anyway sorry off topic!

How are you now, with that superspecial device in yor mouth?
Did you already adapt to it, or is there any pai or lisp? How‘s eating with it?
Can’t imagine how much I would lova to make the same experience.
Will you get your Brackets only on top, or also on your bottom teeth?

There's no magic secret or anything, I just went on Google, looked for orthodontists that offered it and booked an appointment. I actually booked two appointments with two different orthos and the first said he'd do it so I never went to the second. I said that I snore and that I mouth-breathe at night, both of which are true, and that I wanted to get the appliance in the hope of fixing it. He said that he doubts that the problem causing my snoring is anything to do with the width of my palate, that he can make no guarantees of it working, but if I want to do it, I can. In my case the wish was also bigger then the need, but the need was still there so I finally got my dream of shiny brackets fulfilled.
But at the end I‘m sure the dream of an expander, screwed in, would have been one number too big to come true.

Is it MARPE without surgical splitting? Does the turning the srew hurt, and how often do you have do turn the screw?
How is it with speech, did you get accustomed yet?
