Hey guys, hope to get your advise on my condition :)
New in this forum, 23 years old from Europe.

I had braces (just normal tingrin with ugly colorful ligatures on) around the age of 12 for 2 years, and I think that one time experience was more than enough for me, however, I do feel that something is not quite right with my teeth.

When I finished my treatment, I didn’t feel that my teeth were perfectly straight, but I was 12, so obviously didn’t care and just wanted the braces off. I have those fixed retainers behind my teeth and 2 years ago the upper one kind of got loose, and of course I haven’t done anything about it as I’m kinda scared to revisit the orthodontist and hear what he has to say.

It feels and seems that my bite is weird, I don’t know the medical name for that (if someone has a clue, I would love to know), it feels as my lower jaw is “pushed” to the right side of my mouth. I didn’t notice it that until lately, and know I can’t not notice that and wonder if it might do more problems in the future. All I remember from my actual treatment is the ortho being concern about the slower growth of one of my jaws, but not sure which ones and he never did anything about that or explained what it means to me.

Now I think I will have to go for a check up and fix the retainer and ask him about the misaligned jaw, but I must come mentally prepared! Does anybody know what that jaw pushing thing means, and what there is to do with it on adults? I really don’t want to have braces again, and I can’t pay for those expensive clear braces for sure, so I hope I can help my condition somehow easily without getting braces again when 23 years old.

Please let me know what you know, as I feel that I need to prepare myself for some sort of treatment.

Thank youu

i´ve had red retainers as a teen, but i now prefer blue ones. i actually have a blue retainer with some glitter in the acryl.

Update Time,

Last thursday I went back for a checkup. When I arrived I directly got assigned to an assistent. She put me in the chair and removed my old wire by clipping open the backets.
Then she put in a somewhat ticker wire (.016 niti), I believe that my old wire was .012 or .014. After she clipped the wire into the brackets en bend the wire ends to the inside she was done.
A few minutes later the orthodontist came for a check-up. He mentioned there was progress, altough I didn't see any over last month. He said I can get bottom braces in 2 months if I want to straighten out the lower jaw as well. Probably going for lowers as well.
I can definitely feel this wire doing his work, since i feel a constant pressure on my teeth now.
Saturday I was bored and decided to do an extra thorough cleaning of my teeth. I clipped my brackets open and took the wire out myself. The brackets feel extra sharp en bulky when there was no wire. After some thorough brushing I made some photos without the wire en put the wire back in. Was a fun little thing to do on a saturday.

It remains fixed on the lower jaw. So when I wear a headgear I feel the helmet pull ... I have the most powerful traction modules that can be found in France (750 gr).

I managed to get a lot of things (orthodontic helmet, neckpads, many facebows, lip bumpers ...) But the specialized sites are more and more severe and no longer sell to non-professional.

Keine Ahnung was mich erwartet.

Thanks Hops, Definitely will do every day.
So far I've gotten only positive commentary from family and friends on my new silver smile. Still not much discomfort either. YAY FOR BRACES.
