Hallo wieder einmal.
LG

I did get braces as an adult. I did have them when i was in high school but i didnt wear my retainer all that often and they moved back fast. Not to where they were before but still pretty annoying. I got metal braces 3 months ago. This time im enjoying them a little bit more. I could have gotten some that weren’t all that noticeable but i went for metal braces and so far so good.

Not much happened in the last appointment. A quick check that everything was still fine, a quick adjustment to the acrylic of the labial bow of the upper plate to reduce pressure on one incisor, and off I was again. I asked about the wisdom teeth, which she was still somewhat apprehensive about, that the contact is good enough mesially. No further modifications of the brace in that regard as there was still slight pressure downwards from the wire. Otherwise the wisdom teeth moved inwards a bit, but there is still no contact distally.

With the next appointment tomorrow I did a quick check of the progress today. The upper left lateral incisor moved back and is now providing perfect cutting ability again. However, now the central incisors are a bit forward compared to the lateral ones. I hope that they can be moved back a bit as there's currently only one contact point between the upper left central incisor and the lower left lateral incisor.
The previous gap between my left first molars seems to have opened up a bit again. Not that I can see it, but there isn't any mesial contact anymore.
On the bright side, the spaces that slightly opened back up behind my upper canines are completely gone again and floss requires pressure to go in there.

I wonder what the ortho's gonna do about the above imperfections. My assumption would be that she'll ignore the molars for now, get the upper incisors in place, install the fixed upper retainer (including the first premolars), then place more buttons and it's back to rubber bands.
I still really don't want a fixed retainer, keeping the bottom one clean and flossing around it is an absolute chore. If she really insists, I may ask her about a v-loop / wave retainer.

Do any of you have experiences with those? They seem to at least make flossing easier. Also are those used in Germany? I can't seem to find anything about them in German sources.

Hello.

I got new appointment in 15 days. Any suggestions about colors? One only color, combination of two colors more colors? I am 32 male. Option that you choose its i will get and i push a photo here what do you think?:) Blue pink green orange...?

The chipped tooth sounds terrible but getting fitted with an mse sounds fun!  And a tongue crib would be an easy addition I’d think.  When I had my expander back in the day it was the office standard to install it with a tongue crib.  I don’t think they even gave me an option.

So I’ve had braces for about a year, but recently changed orthodontists to get help with my TMJ. At my last appointment, my ortho had me start wearing very light elastics, but only at night as tolerated. The elastics were a blessing and a curse. They pulled my lower jaw slightly forward relieving some of my TMJ pain, but the downward pull on my teeth made me clench and caused jaw muscle pain (which is much better than joint pain). Anyway after a month of this, my bite was moving in the right direction, so much so that I chipped my upper canine on my lower canine while eating. An urgent visit later and I had my own set of very high biteblocks. With my tongue thrust, there’s no hiding the gap now made. I had my scheduled orthodontist appointment this week to find out that the bit locks worked as a TMJ deprogrammer, and I now am the proud owner of a cross bite. My orthodontist is trying to widen my upper jaw with arch wires. I’m hoping they aren’t successful so that maybe I’ll finally be a candidate for an MSE - which my ortho did not want to attempt to help me with sleep apnea because of the TMJ. I’m still sporting my bright blue bite blocks without elastics. Fingers crossed! Maybe someday I’ll get a tongue crib too now that the bite blocks make my tongue thrust worse. What would you do?

Hallo wieder einmal.

Agreed. I mainly got it for some unrelated YouTube/Rumble stuff I want to do, but it'll also be good for braces vids. After many years of the Potato Cam, this is a nice upgrade!

Nice! For me, the more detail the better so hi res is the way to go!

Making home movies and doing photo shoots is great, I've got like 50 colours of ligs so having fun with that

Anytime, old buddy!

All's well here. I finally caved and invested in a new, non-potato vidcam. Looks like we'll be going back into braces-video production soon. >:D

Yeah, I'm aware of the 3 different chain types - the short lengths I have at home are all the ones with no joining strip - i.e. short/strongest

I particularly like that type of chain, there's something particularly nice about seeing it stretched like that, though I may invest in some of the 'long' variety!

The bonding seems very good on these fakes, I'm sure they'd take the tension I just don't want to risk it

Hope all's well with you Mike, thanks for the advice!

I only added pain chains to Carrie's original Essix fakes, but never popped a bracket off. There are "short" and "long" PCs. I used the "long" versions and they didn't exert enough force to pop off a bracket.

Obviously your mileage may vary, and your stretching idea seems like a good one.

Has anyone ever tried prestretching powerchains to allow them to be easily fitted to bonded essix fakes with risk of popping brackets off?

I notice powerchains removed from patients have lost their elasticity and maintain the shape they were in on the braces

I was reasoning to take some measurements from the fakes, then make a scale copy on plywood with nails to loop the powerchains over. I figured leaving them for a month or so
