I have a twin block, and I love it! I've been sort of thinking about buying a dual-maxillary appliance, because I've always wondered what they feel like, too. I have to save up for a little while first though!

i have upper and lower retainers with modified labial bow . Also upper stretching plate with 3 screws and headgear, plus lower modified stretching plate.  They are red, pink and clear.  The retainers were very well made, the other two appliances are less good, although the tech did modify them for me. I will not be buying anything else following the recent price hike.

Hi all, I’m having troubles with my top retainer (expander) and my reverse-pull facemask.

I just need help in fitting it with my face: if I set the elastic hooks on the facemask too high from the retainer, the facemask slowly goes down. If I set them too low, it pulls out my retainer...

What can I do? Are the elastics too strong?
I can post pictures if needed

Upper and lower retainer

fixed braces with headgear and lip bumbers

For wearing headgear I like cervical better as high pull. I have several cervical straps.

Hi!

I have:
- the twin block modified with telescope
- the upper and lower active plate
Both with high pull headgear

Hi

Thank you very much for your informations.
For me the active plates are more easy to wear in long periode than the twin block modified, because of the pelottes and it's complicated  to close the mouth.
But i like to test the activator because of the tongue crib, i like to test the feeling.

Kind regards

I've been wearing my device without the headgear today for the sunday walk with my wife and our dogs.

I have to admit that long-time wear is hard because the pelottes make your lips sore after some hours. I think it's also hard to wear the device for longer periods because due to the tongue crib, you cannot moisten your lips with your tongue anymore and they dry out in result. I've tried it several times, but I never managed to fall into deep sleep or sleep more than 2-4 hours with all the devices on.

In conclusion, I'm pretty glad I never had to wear such strict devices in my real braces treatment from 1989 to 1995. Upper and lower expander plates, fixed braces on upper and lower jaw in combination with some months in elastics and some with jasper jumpers are easy in comparison to the modified activator. But it's offered restriction and confinement are fun to wear if you like that sort of feeling. :)

Kind regards

Hi,

here are my experiences with the activator:

Finally got myself some custom made fake braces from bracesshop.de (activator with tongue crib and pelottes). Thanks to the buccal tubes, they can be worn with a headgear, too (cervical, high pull or combination headgear). I prefer the combination headgear - wearing the braces with it makes them feel like a custom gag being forced into your mouth. My mouth itself is pretty filled up with smooth plastic and a lot of wires, the tongue crib restricts the tongue movement hardly and the pelottes keep the lips away from the teeth. The palatal arch is the only wire your tongue can freely play with (besides the tongue crib wire). It offers many interesting sensations to feel.

I can speak with the devices on, but it's a little bit unclear/I have slight lisp.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions if you want to know anything more.

Kind regards

Hi everyone

Is somebody have an experience with :
The double feed plate
The bionator with tongue crib
The Modified Activator

had my appointment with oral surgeon.  They said the tooth that needed to come out was easy one to do and shouldn't be that painful at all.  The only negative is it is near the front of the mouth, so the gap will be noticeable for a number of months until it can be closed up.

I did meet with the ortho again and we set up a date of mid November to do the upper braces.  They want those on for two months or so before I get the lower tooth removed.  After that, they'll add on the lower braces.  Will be happy to get the tongue appliance off, too.

Driving to Rhode Island from Boston, Carrie reminded me that she's now been in braces six months. How time flies! She's a third of the way through with treatment already.

I think we're going to do a couple of more videos between now and Carrie's next adjustment (October 12th). The first will be about her Braces Survival Kit, a cool little item I picked up from Dentakit right before she got her braces.

The other potential vid is a Q&A. This is an idea I got from a member here. I doubt we'll do it on YouTube Live, but if you have questions you want her/us to answer, post them here or send them to me in PM. If there's sufficient interest, we'll do the Q&A.

keep us posted on how things progress and if you get to keep them on for a longer period of time.  I had hoped to have braves same time as my wife, but life got in the way and she is already done and I'm about to get started.  The ortho said she only had a few husband -wife combinations going through treatment at the same time and the office enjoyed when they both would come in for their adjustments together.

Just to bring everyone up to speed, my wife and I both have full-mouth metal braces. I have had mine for about 28 months and my wife for around 22 months. At my last appointment my ortho said she was pleased and we could schedule to get them off. I really don't want them off because I feel my teeth are still to active, and I would like for them to be a lot more stable before I get them removed. However, my wife still has a pretty good amount of time to go, and my ortho actually said she would leave them on and we could get them off together! I never thought that would be an option, but I like it because I like braces. I'm not sure how much time that would lock me into them, but I like the thought o it!
