Hat keiner Erfahrungen oder Vorschläge für mich? Schade!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-E7AAEBMTI

Was ist Eure Meinung dazu?

Hallo wieder einmal.

Bis dahin keep smiling with braces!
Joe

Well, I know I haven’t updated my journey in a long time but here it goes…

Since my last post I have adjusted even more to it, speech has greatly improved, but still not perfect, I think it won’t improve much more but I do not really care now. People say that they do notice my lisp a little bit but barely and that it is me that notices it a lot more than them, probably, lol.

Yes, it is a little uncomfortable but it kinda needs to be to help you it is a constant reminder to you to put your tongue in the correct position which it does more and more on its own
The only issue I have now is that when I am really distracted or really concentrated on something my tongue sticks out under the crib and rests  between my lips, that has ben the hardest part to control, which me may try to help with a new crib when braces are placed, we are talking different options and designs with my ortho, more on that later.

Then about a month and a half ago my tongue crib broke I had t go in as an emergency because it was hurting my palate really bad, the ortho wasn’t in so another dentist just cut it but left the bands in. A few days later I came back for new impressions for the new crib. My ortho said it might take 2 weeks to get because the lab was backed up and low on supplies.

At first, I said yeah freedom… I had a different lisp the first 3 days but then it went away, and I was talking normally. Then I noticed that my tongue was sometimes doing what it needs to do and staying in the right position but not all the time I had to move myself. However at night was a different story and my tongue pushed on my teeth as usual when asleep, within a week there was movement and my bite opened a little, the gap between top and bottom teeth could not be seen anymore with the crib but within a week an tiny one appeared.

Then I realized myself that I actually missed my tongue crib and wanted it back ASAP and bugged my ortho for them to push the lab and hurry. Fast forward a week I go in happy and eager to get it back but… the lab missed the instructions and it was a tiny one that would not work at all for me and my habit. So, one more week to wait, The day comes and it looks better and according to the instructions however once fit in it was awful I couldn’t speak it was all awkward, like too far back and angled weirdly, so off it goes again to the lab. I couldn’t believe myself thinking and wanting to have it back soon.
Finally, I get it on again, I had to get used to it again, but it was a lot faster than the first time.

However, it was not perfect, like the first one, asymmetric, and sit kinda funny, looking from the front the left side is longer than the right and feels kinda crooked. I spoke to my ortho and tells me it is ok, and it is doing its job. But I feel it and I have to wear it, lol. It doesn’t affect at all how it works, and it is doing its job. She told me to give it some time and then if I feel I want a new one we can talk about it.

After the break, of the crib and from the crib (no pun intended), my ortho talked to me and said now after this she really wanted me to keep it on for the full time of my treatment, there was a possibility of have it off after a year. I understand her concern and honestly I don’t care anymore, I will enjoy my tongue crib and the process, honestly it doesn’t bother my anymore, I feel confident I go it un public I don’t really care.

One last thing is that as I said I might get a one tongue crib and we have been talking with my ortho about it, and if I decide to get a new one we have been talking about improvements to help me even more.
- the first option is making it longer but bend back the lower part, creating like a spoon to help me hold my tongue inside and not under the crib as I explained happens sometimes.
- Second option is getting 2 smaller tongue cribs upper and lower so if my tongue goes out it will be a lot more uncomfortable to stay out
- third option add spikes to lower teeth behind, with the crib always I am not getting off that easy, lol

We are trying to schedule braces for the first weeks of July and then I will make the decision if I keep this tongue crib or get  anew one, anyhow I can always get a new one if I feel like it.

Sorry for the long rant

Hatte hier mal was gelesen von Haftcreme - Hat damit jemand Erfahrung?

Danke schonmal für Eure Antworten  :)

If you are uncomfortable making pictures of you wearing the appliance, do you perhaps have the moulds of your teeth? showing both plates on those would make it much easier to understand as well!

"Small" status update less than two weeks before my next appointment.

I've reached the stage where stuff gets worse before it can get better. The good changes are that the gaps behind my canines are pretty much completely gone. Food didn't get stuck in there since over a month compared to pretty much every meal before starting the treatment. My wisdom teeth are also noticeably moving inwards.

However, my lower central incisors are being intruded by the labial bow sitting on an inclined plane from grinding. They are already about 1mm lower than my lateral ones. With the top incisors being pushed forward by the springs without the labial bow being activated yet, it feels like I'm having a slight anterior open bite. Biting off pieces of bread or pizza is neigh impossible. It's more like tearing than properly biting. Due to the posterior bite plane and because my canines are being pushed forward, when chewing only my canines are touching. Eating feels very weird and foreign. I hope that it'll improve soon.

Another thing I'm noticing is that gaps are starting to open up between teeth wherever holding clasps are. Before starting treatment, I always had trouble getting floss between my teeth, usually ripping it several times in the process. Now, I can get between my teeth way more easily with only little resistance. I guess that could somehow be counted as an improvement?! There is one gap, however, between my two lower right premolars, which is becoming larger than I'd like. It's where the ortho tightened the holding clasp significantly more than the other ones, which is applying pressure between those two teeth. I hope that once I tell her about it, she'll reduce the tightness and the gap will close on its own again.

My jaw joints have stopped hurting except sometimes when I wake up. The right one is still popping every now and again while eating though. On the one hand, the cracking is not really that pleasant, on the other hand, it might mean that the bite plane will be modified to be thicker, which I'll thoroughly enjoy :)

I realized that my lateral jaw movement is slightly restricted by the wisdom teeth springs. With my braces in I can't move my jaws sideways as far as without them. It's improved since the wisdom teeth started moving inwards, but still somewhat reduced.

Currently, I'm wearing the braces pretty much full-time. I'm only taking them out to eat and during work meetings (still working from home). I leave them in when going shopping (where I'm wearing a mask anyway), but also when meeting with friends or going to the park. I'm getting in 20+ hours wear time per day. Whenever I'm in public, I'm actively and subconsciously trying to hide the braces. It's weird how such a small thing like braces can affect personality and self-esteem that much. I notice a significant difference between my personality with braces and without having the braces in.

Speaking is at a point where it most likely won't improve much anymore. A friend of mine commented that it's become really good and isn't too noticeable anymore. Myself, I still hear and notice a strong difference. With the next appointment I'm expecting speaking to become different again, requiring me to practice for a week or so before being used to the new changes. Especially if the bite plane will be made thicker.

it would be very interesting to see close up photos of your braces on your teeth.

No, sorry.
Maybe in a year or so once I've reached the "fuck it I'll just wear them full-time" moment (even though that moment may never come).

I think the asst put the lower power chains on wrong. I have one on each side of the lower starting at the soldered hook before #3.  The power chains are not on any brackets only 2 hooks - it’s running beneath the brackets - attached on the archwire hook and the last molar hook.

This doesn’t seem right because I can basically do the same thing with an elastic running under the brackets. Plus even with waterpik and brushing, I’m having issues with food sitting behind the power chain that I can’t see.

I really think he meant to run it under the wire (not running under the brackets) and I can’t seem to find anything online that shows power chains attached this way.

She seemed to be a new assistant because she had trouble getting my wires off and on and needed help for both. This is the 3rd time I am wearing braces and I REALLY don’t want anything slowing it down.

Anyone heard of this/had power chains running from just 2 hooks?
