I think the pelottes (labial pads) are used on some functional appliances, mainly for looks here though.  The pelottes do push out the lower lip and it is noticeable, you can also adjust it some for a more protruded look.  Good luck!

Hey,

Thanks for replying.
I like the sound of the thicker acrylic, all the better for giving you a lisp I suppose :)
I often wondered about the purpose of the pelottes, do they serve any medical function or are they purely for looks / effect on these appliances. Do they push the lip out noticibly? I like the idea of struggling to keep the mouth closed, like with headgear.

I think I would order the clear ones, I've always preferred clear or transparent pink, but the other colours do look very cool.

Thank you again :)

I ordered the pair and I was very happy with them!  The acrylic is thicker than on a hawley to accommodate the expansion screws.  One note on the upper plate I received, it was designed like the blue and red plate on the website, not like the red, green, and yellow model. The pelottes are just below the teeth on the lower plate and are designed to push out the lower lip.  I ordered headgear tubes on the upper and lower plates, with two facebows it was quite the experience.  I unfortunately lost most of my appliances in a move and I am trying to build up again or I would share pics.

Update**

The wife got her braces off :(  But there is still something to be said about a perfect bright white smile.

I had my first 3 week adjustment just after Christmas.  Man! how much more painful these fast braces are then the invisalign!  Only 6 more weeks to go.  But I am enjoying every moment.  I just wish I had got these a year ago rather then start with the invisalign process.  Ive seen more progress in the last 3 weeks the last 11 months.

Has anyone had any similar stories to share?

thanks for sharing your story!
Does your wife knows about your special interest in braces?

Thx.

Hello all,

Has anyone here ever ordered the 'Modified upper and lower stretching plates' from the Braces Shop?
These:

http://nullrefer.com/?http://www.br.../Modified-Upper-Jaw-Stretching-Plate::78.html

http://nullrefer.com/?http://www.br.../Modified-Lower-Jaw-Stretching-Plate::77.html

If so, are there any further pictures of them, perhaps in the mouth?
I'm interested in ordering a set but am curious as to how they look in the mouth, particularly the lower one, its not entirely clear how it sits from the models, do the pelottes push the lower lip out and that kind of thing?

If anyone has any information or pictures of these appliances in the real world I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Gordon

Hier, noch was.

A bit of a change has happened since I last posted. Monday I went in for my Invisalign check. The dr wanted to take impressions for another 10 trays. That would be another 20 weeks minimum for the Invisalign. I decided to have the fastbraces fitted!!  I will only have them 6-9weeks to finish correcting some teeth that haven't fully rotated. Having paid $6000 for the Invisalign treatment already, I still had to pay 3000 for the braces. I can't stop smiling, the wife and I only will be braced together for 2 weeks before hers come off. Looking forward to a great few weeks and perfect smiles.

What a ride the past 10 months have been!  But unfortionatly The wife is scheduled to get her braces removed this month.  Its a bit bitter sweet, but I am looking forward to her perfect smile once they come off.

Me on the other hand, I believe I am on set 23 of my trays, changing them every 2 weeks.  If anyone were to think about invisalign I would not recommend them.  An absolute pain to live with.  If I were to do it again I would have definitely gone for the ceramic clear fastbraces as my wife got.  What a sensation kissing her and running my tonge across her brackets and rubberbands.

Cant wait for the process to be done so that we can both get our matching metal fake braces.

Thank you for such a quick response!

I did send a message to the braces-shop, but I haven't got any reply.

I currently have fixed ceramic brackets and a band on my upper teeth. I would like to take the impressions and get the jaw plate made in advance, due to the lenght of processing time.

Also why do they require VAT reg. no. for EU citizens when the VAT is already included in the price?

Hi,

not sure about the specialties of the impression kits from the shop and just my personal opinion/knowledge, but orthos normaly take impressions for retainers after removing the fixed braces. It will be nearly impossible to make a plate that fits your teeth without braces with impressions taken with braces on. Especially aat the banded molars you can't make a plate fitting the teeth from an impression taken with the bands on the teeth. There will always be a gap between teeth and plate where the bands have been.

So unless the shop technician tells you it will work, I would prefer to wait until the braces are removed. But perhaps you post some details for him to better understand the situation - do you have only brackets, or also bands, any other additional fixed appliances?

Wish you good luck ;-)

Hello, I am currently wearing fixed braces, which I'm going to get off in few months. I would like to order the "Upper Plate Jaw" from the Braces Shop. Is it possible to take accurate impressions while wearing fixed braces? Thank you.
