Hey braces forum,

I have had my braces done around year ago, and I have been travelling and am away from where by orthodontist practices, hence was instructed to get my power chains changed by other orthos monthly. After consulting 2 different orthodontists, it was in their opinion that it was too early for power chains to be used on my teeth, and might lead to negative effects.

I was wondering if anybody knows that if the gaps are closed without my teeth being completely straight, would rectification by my orthodontist be possible, as I'm worried that by the time i return in October, my treatment would be affected.

Your opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I've been wearing braces for about two months now. At first I only got top braces. On the second consultation I got bottom braces and bite turbos on the back bottom molars so the top front teeth wouldn't touch the bottom front brackets. I already got the bite turbos off yesterday, and for now I just have a standard set of top and bottom metal braces.

I just had mine removed recently. I had mine put on 2 days before I turned 50 even though I had 2 years of headgear wear, 7 months of a tongue crib, and almost 3.5 years on braces I will never regret it. ;D ;D

I have just received my new lower retainer with modified labial bow. It is very well made. Thank you, Torsten

I also got mine in clear acrylic for the same reason. My bite plate doesn't have a front wire and although the plastic is level with the edge of my teeth, I didn't want it to be too obvious for full time wear.
Also have natural flesh pink Hawleys.

I got clear acrylic for my fakes, thinking it would be less obvious for long-term wear. But I like to see bright colors for others.

From about 10 to 15 years old, I underwent a pretty standard treatment for overbite, separated and rotated teeth, with the extraction of some babyteeth, cervical headgear and metal braces. But after those years I failed to wear the retainers properly, and now, more than a decade later, my teeth shifted, and I have big gaps between all my front teeth and maybe a slight overbite. My bottom teeth have stayed pretty much the same, apart from a few super small gaps and misalignment.  My old top retainer is far from fitting, but the bottom ones fits (with a little force).

Given this, I've finally found, at the age of 27, the courage (and the financial independence) to get braces again. My first visit is scheduled for tomorrow morning, when I'll probably have all the treatment plan. I expect to be fitted in a couple of weeks.

It is a shame I discovered my fetish for braces only later and failed to properly enjoy my headgear (I even failed to wear it for the standard 14h) and the retainers. Due to my slacking, I'm getting a second chance. I have to admit it would be nice getting headgear again, but that is probably just a distant dream. Being realist, I think I'll just get top and bottom metal, maybe elastics, and the retainer of course, after everything.

I just want to see tomorrow what the orthodontist has reserved for me.  8)

I don't think I could pick a single best of favorite color. I like just about any color with glitter added in whether clear, pink, purple, or even bright fluorescent colors. There are too many choices to pick just one!
