My treatment starts with only upper because of my deep bite. Few weeks or months later I will get also lower. Most of the time they place it on both sides. Like other people said before.

Thanks guys. Ill see what the Ortho  says tomorrow.  It may be that the way my jaws are the upper  only won't  have an effect but i guess they know best. I appreciate  the posts though. Wish us luck  ;D

I agree that having a brace on only one arch may cause problems with your bite, but I  had a brace on my upper teeth only and it did not worsen my bite.

Having said that, if I were starting again, I would probably get braces on both arches and do the job thoroughly.

that's not so easy I think. I had only upper for the beginning of the treatment, but got the lower some weeks later. Your will need to ask your orthodontist if that is possible as if you change your upper teeth they most probably won't fit to the lower ones any more. That may lead to a malocclusion that can even damage your teeth. (That is what I was told 20 years ago when I asked the same question.)

Hi, new here. My daughter (13) and I have our first consult Thursday. I promised her she wouldn't have to go through braces alone and I Finally can afford to pay for mine now. (Im 47yrs old). I really don't care about the lower set but have a feeling the Orthodontist will say both. Ive heard of patients opting for just upper or lower but have questions.  Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I'm a guy. Women who like braces exist! But I doubt you'll find many on this site. - And looking for them elsewhere online has the serious risk of coming off as a creep.  It seems to me the best shot at finding women into braces is to wear them yourself with confidence - And then see if any woman smile back! You've ahead of me on that part.

I'm 35 and a week ago I got my metal fixed braces on top. Next month I will get bottom ones.
I have a one or two TADs in plan so elastics will be needed as well I think.

This is my second time in braces and I hope to keep them as long as possible

The day has finally come!  I picked up my invisalign 4 weeks ago and am on my 3rd set of trays.  It is a bit of a sensation with the pressure on the teeth.

My wife finally got her braces today!  Unfortionaly she opted for the clear.  Our dentist uses fastbraces, I haven't found too much info on them.  Still, what a babe with the new hardware on her teeth.  Updates as we progress!

Der Junge trägt oben und unten klassische Multibänder zusammen mit Kombinations-Headgear.
Abends und Nachts muss er einen Teuscher-Aktivator (Headgear-Aktivator) tragen.
Der Headgear ist aber jeweils nur an einem Gerät befestigt. sieht man schön auf der vorletzten Seite wo beide Geräte im Mund sind

Actually the social thing hasen't hit jet. Most people look at my braces, wondering for a moment before cottening on. They normally don't even mention them and ignore them soon enough.

The feeling of the braces isn't really nice, not as bad ,though, as I had expected.

Mir war das in meiner Jugend auch vergönnt.
Zuerst hatte ich Brackets nur im OK, die dann mal für eine Zeit raus kamen.
Derweilen wurde ich mit einem Bionator beglückt, den ich zwei Jahre tragen durfte.
Später wurden mir dann Brackets im OK und UK verpasst und ein Kombi Headgear.
Der Bionator wurde an ein paar stellen ein wenig beschliffen und modifiziert, dann passte er auch in Kombination mit den Brackets und dem Headgear.

Heute würde ich mir alle zehn Finger ablecken, wenn ich das alles wieder tragen dürfte ;-)

Wie schon von einem Vorredner erwähnt, ist eine Kombination die, durch Eingliedern der losen Zahnspange die Bisslage so zu ändern, dass man sich nicht auf Brackets beisst, den Biss sozusagen zu sperren zB mit seitlichen Aufbissen. Auch eine Vorverlagerung des Unterkiefers kann so bewirkt werden, ohne ein Herbstgeschiebe einbauen zu müssen.

Mein Bruder hat das vor ein paar Monaten auch kennengelernt: Feste Spange im OK+UK und zusätzlich eine lose Klammer (Aufbissplatte) im OK, die er gleich nach dem Einbau der Brackets verpasst bekam und auch ständig tragen musste. Er war heilfroh, als er die Aufbissplatte los wurde. War wohl insgesamt recht unangenehm...
