It was difficult to hide my interest and excitement in getting the braces and appliances, but I managed to hide that by expressing willing to actually get the problems fixed, so I think I handled that situation relatively well, I've just got to keep it up for the remainder of my treatment. ;D
I'm sort of sad that I've only got two years of my treatment left, but I remember the first few days with the expander and tongue crib well. It affected my speech a lot. I have quite a small mouth which means that those two appliances plus the headgear wires, braces and herbst filled up a lot of space, which also made eating difficult, but quite fun at the same time.

haha I agree longer than a year would've been great but I suppose I have been lucky with all those appliances!

Hi, as a newbie to the site I thought I'd share my current orthodontic treatment with you all.
I began the treatment two years ago, after being referred by my dentist who noticed that I had numerous issues - crowding, underbite and tongue thrust. With my interest in braces I was happy to comply, I knew this was not just going to be standard braces.
So my first appointment was quick, just to take impressions, X-Ray's and add spacers for the upcoming fitting. My next appointment was around 8 weeks later, where I was fitted with full braces (and molar bands), along with a tongue crib and expander on my upper jaw. To finish the internal appliances I gained a herbst. Much to my surprise I was fitted with a high pull headgear.

I've got another year left of all of this, and then a further year of braces and elastics to set everything in place, so as you can tell my treatment is relatively extensive.

I'm new at this forum. I have been looking around for a while to get some braces. Last week I found the bracesshop website and I decided to order a pair of braces. I'm more into wire-braces (instead of locks on the teeth).
There is such a huge amount of different kinds of braces and now I don't know what to order.

For me it is important the braces stay in place (don't move around) and I prefer to get braces for both the upper and lower jaw. Budget: 300€ - 500€

Could you share some of your thoughts here?

Jo der ist schon eine Nummer stärker, merkt man am etwas stärkeren Druck, aber großartige "Schmerzen" hab ich weiterhin hin nicht, leicht Druckempfindlich, und mal so richtig herzhaft in ein Brot zu beißen ist etwas schwierig...

Nein UK weiß ich noch nix hab aber auch nicht gefragt, der Biss hat sich noch nicht wesentlich verändert, ich denke zuerst Werden die Lücken geschlossen und dann die Biss Einstellung. Das sich da etwas getan hat merk ich allerdings schon beim Zubeißen.

Wie ist es jetzt, mit dem neuen Bogen? Ist der schon etwas stärker?
Und weißt schon, wann es mit dem Unterkiefer weiter geht?

Heute gibt's wieder ein kurzes Update meinerseits:

Die Powerchain bin ich erstmal wieder los, es ist schon interessant wie effektiv das Ding ist - nach 1 Monat ist die Lücke zwischen den Schneidezähnen fast geschlossen..

Ansonsten wurde heute nur das erste Mal der Bogen gewechselt und frische Ligaturen drüber.

Schmerzen bis dato keine, ein leicht erhöhter Druck ist bemerkbar..

Ich habe zu meinem Headgear einen Aktivator mit Frontzahnaufbiss im Unterkiefer. Das ist ein cooles Spangengefühl, weil Aktivatoren schon ziemlich voluminös sind und sich im Mund entsprechend bemerkbar machen, vor allem beim Sprechen.

Allerdings hat mir eine Schienen-'Nutzerin' durchaus intensive Eindrücke beschrieben.
Und wenn ich mit einem Fake interessant was fühlen wollte (Schrauben! Biegen!), käme ich ja in den Bereich der Selbsttherapierung, und das will man ja nicht.

also ganz ehrlich, da gäbe es für mich keine Diskussion. Eine Schiene verursacht nicht einmal annähernd die selben Gefühle wie es eine feste Spange oder ein Retainer tut. vor allem gewöhnt man sich so schnell daran, das es gefühlt nach einem Tag schon uninteressant ist. An einer festen Spange hingegen hat man die ganze Bahndlung durch Freude. Ob es nun ein Fake sein muß oder eine "echte" das musst Du selbst entscheiden!

Dein Bericht über die Separiergummis und dann die dickeren macht richtig Lust auf das Gefühl, bei den Power...Gummis geht es weiter -
dabei kenne ich nur den Druck der Losen, die ich vor JAhrzehnten hatte. War auch toll, muss ich sagen.
Und lass Dir von einem Altchen sagen: Mit jenseits der 40 vergeht die Lust auf das Gefühl an den Zähnen nicht!

Ich bin (seit einiger Zeit) bei der Überlegung: Wie komme ich noch einmal an das Spangen-Feeling? Lange Zeit war, rein finanziell, überhaupt keine Aussicht, jetzt sehe ich aber eine Möglichkeit:
Da ich in Berlin wohne, kann ich auf einige KFO zugreifen, die Varianten von Invisalign mehr oder minder günstig anbieten. Und auch ein Fake ist erreichbar.
Ihr scheint ja alle den Reiz der Drähte und des leichten Drucks auf den Zähnen zu kennen, und deshalb meine Vermutung: Ihr habt auch EInschätzungen und Tips, wie Ihr es angehen würdet.
Meine KFO-Behandlung mit losen Spangen ist über 30 Jahre her und ich habe jetzt nur kleine bis mittelprächtige Fehlstellungen zu bieten. Aber laut aktueller Aussage eines KFO bin ich für eine Behandlung (mit dem 'Aufhänger' Kiefergelenksprobleme) viel zu nah an einem Neutral- / Idealbiss.
Wenn ich mich also für eine Schienenbehandlung entscheiden würde, hätte ich sowohl das Gefühl als auch die kosmetische Korrektur, es wäre aber nicht der gute, alte Draht. Beim Fake hingegen würde das GEfühl stimmen, aber sich an der Kosmetik nichts tun.
Was wären Eure Präferenzen und Argumente? Bin gespannt!
