The orthodontic appliance is very thick and occupies the entire palate.
This thing causes a lot of saliva and creates heat in the mouth and alters the taste in the mouth a little.
The two metal fins with the closed mouth are felt under the tongue and it is felt that they touch the area near the frenum nerve. This thing makes you feel annoyed.
The metal fins prevent the movement of the tongue and touch the lower appliance when i close my mouth.
The metal fins are inclined with respect to the lower device to make sure that the mouth closes in a specific position.
The upper and lower braces also having the bite reach up to the tip of the teeth and you feel a bit of pain because the bite presses behind the incisors.
When you close your mouth you feel that the two appliances touch on the front side due to the thick bite.
The lower braces often put pressure behind the teeth and in the lower part of the mouth and after a while they start to feel uncomfortable.
The upper appliance being thick and having the bite makes the tongue lower in position.
I also inserted the mustache into the tubes and attached the highpull headgear together with the cervical headgear keeping them in traction as much as possible.
You feel the pull on the jaw.
With the mustache attached it is very difficult to drink from the glass, you creampie everything.
I tried to eat with the braces in my mouth along with the mustache.
Pasta can be eaten more or less.
Eating with braces is however difficult because the bite reaches the tip of the teeth and you cannot bite well.
In general, this device with the modifications made to make it thicken makes your mouth feel even more blocked and it is very annoying to wear together with the mustache if inserted and the two non-removable metal fins
When you try to speak, it is difficult to make a speech. The tongue has little movement.
It is difficult to pronounce letters such as T, S, R and others.
It is difficult for those in front of you to understand what you are saying even if you speak softly

They are ok. Didn’t really expect them to be so big. Been hard getting used to them Over the weekend. Talking is weird. Only had them since Thursday. Glad there are similar people to talk to about it. I had sagitall removable brace when I was younger but this time just braces so not had anything like these retainers since I was 8!! Did you have anything at an older age?

I had a Sagittal removable brace. Basically a big removable expander for 12 months.

What did you go for? Hawley retainers are better in my opinion. They last longe ,and are harder to break or lose. It’s just the talking with them and how they feel and look that takes a bit of getting used to.

I have removable retainers which have a metal wire accross the teeth which is visible and also speaking is hard because of the plastic. I take them out for meetings but otherwise wear them pretty much full time. You get used to them and remember your doing it for you and it’s not forever so stick at it. I did have fixed braces which I found ok. Retainers are way worse!

Just got top and bottom hawley retainers. Thought my teeth were shifting and my fixed retainer broke years ago and was a pain. Thought the clear retainers would need to be replaced too often or I would lose them so I tried the hawley retainers. Didn’t contemplate the lispyness! Pretty embarrassing talking to people. Got them on Thursday so been pretty weird weekend trying to get used to them. Not sure I made the right decision but too late now. Have to wear them full time for 6 months then just at night. Anyone else had Hawley retainers in their 30s or older?

If he acts professionally he will not do it unless the treatment plan calls for it. He would be considered liable for any error, fault or injury resulting from your recreational usage.
I have metal braces upper and lower. Wanted my Ortho to put on molar brackets with Buccal tubes so I could wear headgear on special occasions. He kept asking Why I would want that, any ideas how to get him to put them on? I could not think of any reason. Can't really tell him the real reason,
Got my braces put on 3 weeks ago at 58. I had braces 20 years ago and have no worries about what people think. I have full metal upper and lower. Most people don't even comment but you do notice they are looking at them. Just wish I didn't have to wear a mask so everyone could see them.
