What do I need done? Is dental implant necessary?

An orthodontist told me I need treatment for several issues. I’m missing a tooth (#12 or #13) and will likely need dental implants. My dental midline is shifted and my teeth need to be moved to one side to correct my bite. My teeth are also flared, so that will need to be fixed. I may need three tooth extractions. They also said I have tongue thrust or improper tongue posture because my tongue constantly pushes against my teeth. I was told I may have bimaxillary protrusion (or something similar). I cited medical issues that I deal with on a basis. They quoted me about $6,800, and my Meridian Medicaid insurance doesn’t cover it. I’m trying to determine whether a dental implant treatment is medically necessary, as that seems to be really expensive. Do implants usually go good? There seems to be this stigma around them online. I’m also going to look for second opinions.

Seeing another dentist or orthodontist for a professional second opinion might be sensible. If you do want to ask online as well, Reddit is probably a better place, since this forum is really just focused on braces. I wish there were a bit more flexibility for other discussions, but it is what it is.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to suggest. I've never had dental implants, and I don't have any experience dealing with health insurance either, hope that helps, good luck.
