Removable braces

Before, I wouldn't have dared, but since September 2025, I've been wearing a removable Hawley-type appliance every day. I have them in different colors (blue, yellow, orange, magenta, green, pink...) which I change regularly.

At work, no one has asked me any questions or seemed surprised.

At home, for several years now, I've been wearing appliances like the Bionator or Activator, with headgear, a Delaire mask, or something similar.
 
That is brave of you to wear them to work. I have just got a bite jumping appliance and a lower expander and it’s so hard to speak, it’s quite embarrassing sometimes.

How do you find the bionator? They have always intreagued me.
 
The Bionator is larger and it's almost impossible to talk to it, so it's unsuitable for work. It would be too complicated professionally.

I own several, both open and closed.
 
Has anyone else had a mono bloc? I am getting one in a few weeks and wandered if anyone had any advice or good bad experiences from it
 
Yes, I´ve been wearing a bionator and later a twinblock for many years during my active treatment. The bad experience is that the appliance is huge and you can´t talk properly at first after it fills up you mouth. The good experience is that after a few days and finally after being able to sleep with, it won´t bother you anymore and you feel comfortable wearing it also for a long time after these devices have to be worn 16 hours a day.

But nowadays in my daily life I wear two hawley expanders - I don´t want to miss them anymore :-)
