my new headgear brace

hello i´m asheara and have today my braces treatment. i have a headgear brace and i think this is awful.
i love the traditional braces, but i don´t exit with my headgear on.
Give me some advice please
 
Depends on how much you are supposed to wear it. But I guess the best thing is saying to yourself that this will contribute to improving your bite and your looks substantially. I know that's easy to say, especially now as it seems to me, unlike back in my days, almost nobody wear a headgear anymore. I mean, in my class we were five people wearing headgear to school at some point, and that was not exceptional - during my junior high years, which is when I wore the thing, not a day passed without me seeing a couple of kids with headgear in the yard.

However, do not let it inhibit you from acting socially if you have to wear it more hours than you're typically at home. People may stare, but probably also think that you're brave - at least I remember that was what I thought when I first saw someone wearing it. And I know for sure, wearing it in public never cost me any friends. Plus - try seeing it the other way - if you just jump into wearing it in public, you'll also be more prone to wear it more than prescribed, speeding up the treatment. I know it's hard, I never wore it in public more than I had to, even thouh that was my intention. But why not?

I am 14 and I have fixed braces now. i started my treatment with headgear. i was supposed to wear it from 5pm until 8:30am (which ment i had to wear it on the bus to school) I had my headgear for 9 months. I was supposed to weart it 1 hole tighter every 3 weeks, which i didn't. In the end my orthodontist had to cut the neck strap shorter so that i could only wear it tight.It got to the stage when i wasn't wearing it at all. After 9 months I had a removable plate as well as my headgear. I had to tighten my plate with a screw every week. After 6 weeks when we went back i hadn't worn my headgear at all so my orthodontist glued it in and i couldn't take it out at all for 18 months. It was torture. I had 3 types of headgear in total. Now i have a fixed brace and a double headgear. I had it glued in permenantly for 6 months and now I only wear it at night, which I actually do because it is HORRIBLE having it in 24/7 for 2 years!! I will have to wear it for another 4 moths, then hopefully i can stop wearing it. I also wear elastic's, I used to have coil springs.

I feel very sorry for you having to weat headgear and I know how horrible it is. But I suggest that you do wear it the whole time in your hosue and everynight, even, if you feel able, at sleepovers, your family will get used to it as will you. I wish you luck with it!!!
 
I think that headgear is very sexi! I don't have to wear it but I like that feeling when every people are looking at you and your face with headgear... sometimes people are smilling, sometimes they standing and they thinking what do you heave in your face. Maybe i'm wird bud I like it....

I just got a full mouth of dental. Full braces, upper and lower expander. Reverse headgear with heavy force. I have to crank both expanders every night and am supposed to wear the headgear at least 16 hours a day. Its very hard to speak and eat, and with the headgear on heavy elastic force i get to pop some pain meds because of the pain. It sucks, but within atleast 2 years after ortho equipped, i will have a good smile. Its cool because my significant other totally understands my situation and backs my up 100 %. If you need to undergo something like this, just do it and who cares what others think.

i can´t beleave that orthos does such a torture to kids... is this story reallz true. probably for braces fetish people the idea is funny but not when it becomes true in daily life of a normal child. has anybody made the same experiences?

Anybody who REALLY believes that lolwakefield's story is true - well, come over to my place, I own one hell of a bridge that just happens to be for sale!
C'mon people, can't we distringuish between reality and fantasy here? 

Fantasy is always cool, I've no problem with it, but my head is rooted in reality.

I agree, headgear is awkwardly sexy for sure. I also agree at the fact of the weird stares you get. It is something you cannot hide at all especially face ask. If you are weird then that makes me weird as well. I would very much enjoy kissing a girl with headgear on with all the metal getting in the way and having to menouver around it :)
 
Yes lisp from headgear is great and it's even better when you talk with it and it squeaks and clicks due to the movement of mouth
