Last two days before braces!!!

I keep feeling my smooth teeth and thinking how in two days there will be metal brackets and wires over them. Ah!! I can't believe I'm doing this. I literally can't back out now, it's happening Friday morning. I'm getting braces. I am so excited for the installation process--like when the first bracket is placed and I'm internally like 'fuck, its really happening' lol. Also very excited for the moment when I feel them on my teeth for the first time. And then excited (but nervous) for the first look of them on me. Wonder if that will be there or when I leave.

I plan to go out around the city after and like subtly show them off lol. I think cause of this kink I enjoy this public aspect, of being seen with braces/having them on display...so might as well milk that haha.

 
I go on Friday to fix some cavities and on May 10 I have the study to start with orthodontics. I'm nervous, what color are you going to wear in your braces? We look forward to seeing photos! I'll do it too! In my previous treatment I was a little embarrassed to smile but in this one I am not going to stop and I am also thinking of wearing bright colored rubber bands although I don't know why to start maybe with various colors that may be striking?
 
Ahhh so excited for you! That first trip out in public rocking your new look is gonna be wild! I’m also curious to know what colour ligatures you’re thinking of going for? If you can’t decide, you could always setup a poll on the forum and let the members choose for you?  ;)
 
I'm so excited for you!!! It's a good day when one of our kind gets to undergo that magical transformation into a metal mouth! I hope you'll take the time to share your thoughts and feelings of the experience!

I remember before I got my braces I used to press the flap of flesh beneath my top lip vertically between a gap in my top front teeth, and very soon after getting my beloved oral hardware realized I could no longer do this, on account of there not being enough space between those teeth, to say nothing of the massive edgewise arechwire blocking it completely.

This very small microcosm of "cant do this thing because of my braces" THRILLED me even more! There will be a number of little things that are different, will feel different, and things you CANT do because of your braces. EMBRACE those! Relish in them!

I also got real metal braces put on about a year ago now and it has been so pleasurable. The first few weeks are definitely the most pleasurable though by far. My advice would be to truly enjoy every minute of the first few weeks because that’s when you’ll feel the braces the most and notice it the most.

Still deciding on the color!! kinda leaning toward purple or dark purple though, but wonder if darker color will be more of a shock? Haha. And yes I really look forward to going out right after with them. Getting them on in less than 48 hours now…sooo nervous hahah.

Thank you so much for the good vibes and advice!! I’m gonna try to enjoy the experience for myself and not think about what others will think or the future (that kinda kills my fun , worrying about others). I’m not even telling anyone that I’m getting them, because sometimes their reactions might spoil my fun too or be a downer. So screw all of that! This is for me and I’m gonna enjoy it!!

I get so fluttery thinking about it happening this soon. It’s just gonna be such a huge change for me haha, mixture of nerves and excitement

Question—were you nervous about other people’s reactions to them the first weeks? Did you tell anyone or keep it kinda hidden?

Hahah yeah I keep thinking about the things that will change!! Like needing to check my teeth more to make sure nothings stuck in them (maybe will keep a little mirror on hand and mini brush and floss?) And then needing to clean them specially (I think I’ll enjoy taking care of them actually, unlike with Invisalign I hated trying to clean those trays that got gross…but since the braces will be part of me I want them to look the best). I also definitely will be feeling them with my tongue a lot or playing with them lol, it’ll probably be my new fidget thing.

It doesn’t feel real that I’ll have braces in less than 48 hours now. Tomorrow is the last day of not having braces and then the next morning they go on. No backing out now!

I also haven’t told anyone im getting them which is kinda fun lol. I guess I’ll mention it casually to friends or just show up with them haha. We’ll see how I feel!

I will! I wanna write in detail about the day I get them installed :) really hope it’s a pleasurable experience lol. I’m very excited!
 
What a great news! I did it a few years ago and the pleasure was really intense. especially at the start. Like it was said before, enjoy each second of the first times.

How old are you and what is your occupation ?

I’m 24, in university right now :)

Oh yeah definitely will. I’m so nervous excited I can’t even sleep right now lol. It’s basically the last day without braces…gonna be buzzing from excitement lol. I can’t believe I’ll have braces on in 30 hours (just calculated..oh god).

I don’t know how imma deal with the excitement all day and sleep at night haha. The morning of is gonna be craaaazyyy !!! I’ve never felt this way about anything before ever.
 
update: in 24 hours exactly ill be in the chair ready to get braces!!! ahh im so nervous/excited lol. last day without them!! I'm leaning toward getting silver bands now, cause I really like the total shiny metal mouth look, and then imma go for some wild colors :)

Disappointing update: Y'all, I got the date wrong :( My appointment is next friday morning, not this one (happens way too much with ADHD, I should've double checked sooner).

Been trying to get my mind off of it because I was so so excited (as you can see from my posts) and so nervous leading up to it, only to find out its a week away again!! ah!

Well, I guess on the plus I get another week of anticipation/build up again. I definitely want to get all tasks I need to do done before the appointment so I can enjoy it fully also (yesterday would've also been less enjoyable bc I had other stuff to do, so another plus is to be more prepared). Gonna try to stay busy so time passes faster. Six days until they actually finally really go on.

Sorry for the let down, anyone who was following! I am bummed too but I'm still getting them on next week. 100% committed to it and not backing out!!

oh yes, I need metal for sure. Clear would be disappointing and not have the full braces feel I like with this kink. The whole thing is how visible they are and how the metal looks lol. I'd regret not going for the real thing with the chance to do so and enjoy my kink :)
