New Posts

I went in for my second adjustment today. Waiting every 8 weeks sucked. I started in the waiting room seeing another office worker in her 20’s with braces installed. Then I went back and had a conversation with my favorite assistant also in full metal brackets.

I talked with the ortho who examined me and said not only would I be getting new wires on the top and bottom, but also start bringing my teeth together. The plan is to bring the front 4 together on both jaws and then the back together on either side. After they are together in groups, they will bring them all together.

I had all my ligatures removed. I was able to brush like a regular person while the wires were out. The brackets feel so much sharper without ligatures.

I was brave and went for colors this time. I asked for red and green. There is green power chain on the top (front 4) and red (front 4). They alternated red and green on the rest of the teeth.

I’ll update more later.

I'm a male young adult, been slightly annoyed by my fang teeth since multiple years and lurking some braces forum.
Unfortunately my parents when I was young didn't have the money to send me for braces. When I finished university, I stacked up quite a good pile of money working at a well paying job.

I thought it was a good idea and see what they can do for me and my vampire teeth.
Turns out I had a overjet and overbite (class 2 malocclusion) but the way the teeth were it didn't show a lot.

I had 3 options presented to me :

- Braces during 3 years and jaw surgery (bsso or lefort 1)
- Braces during 2 years and 4 teeth extracted
- Braces only during 2 years and live with the fact that I have a gap between my teeth.

Initially and still a bit scared for the surgery but I decided to take this route !

I'm getting metal braces put on in February and then in a year or two will go for the surgery get the jaw at the good position. I hope it won't be too painful. The orthodontist said she will put me on the top and bottom brackets at the same time.

Flirten & knutschen ist ja nicht wirklich anders als mit ohne Brackets - und alles andere ist nicht jugendfrei...  ;)

I've had a couple of ortho appointments since the last posts. At the one in September, they had removed the power thread which they had everything tied together with. So after a couple of months, gaps were opening up in a few different places. At that point they put 2 powerchains  on, 1 under the archwire and one over. That definitely closed the gaps, but it is one of my least favorite configurations. Things really get stuck more than you can imagine. With the gaps closed I was ready to get the double chains off nd go back to a single, but the ortho didn't see it that way! lol However, we did decide to just leave the braces on until my wife gets hers off, which is still not on the horizon yet, or at least it hasn't been discussed anyways. Ill go back in January, and have everything broke down to get a teeth cleaning and then put back on for another round!

I think so. She's well past the point of the braces being uncomfortable, save a little soreness after adjustments, and cleaning is just an accepted routine now. All the awkward little conversations with family and friends are in the rearview mirror, as well, so now there's really nothing to the braces except how much it pleases me. She observed a couple of weeks ago that we have sex way more often than we used to, and that's true. Frequency has probably doubled, and since she's basically insatiable, she's really been enjoying it. That may be a lot of the motivation for her -- and maybe not even so much the sex itself, but simply being found so desirable.

I was just thinking about this thread today, and I remembered one thing - the smell of braces and the orthodontist. Once in awhile I catch it, smells like metal, iron or some other kind, and a bit like a dental office. I really appreciated my visits to the orthodontist when I was younger, and kind of wish I  needed to go back.

Also of interest, I had a slight scheduling conflict with her next appointment. She offered to move the appointment back a week or so. The thing that jumped out in her text about it? "I can move it back to the next week. I don't mind moving things back to prolong treatment a bit."

Verrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting!

Carrie got the broken bracket replaced yesterday. She had to do a walk-in at the ortho practice, since no appointments were available and the orthodontist needed to be present to position the new bracket. She sat in the waiting room for about an hour before she was called back. The replacement was uneventful, however. She made a short video about it:

Just a quick little update:

Carrie's only had some mild pressure and soreness since her last adjustment, and really just on the three brackets that were repositioned. The soreness has gone away now. However, her rearmost lower right bracket (with the buccal tube) came off on Saturday morning. Fortunately, the exposed archwire isn't stabbing her or anything, but she can't get into the ortho until Tuesday to have the bracket replaced. If the archwire does end up poking her today or tonight, I can just clip it with my trusty distal end cutter, as I've done with other poking wires before.

Me, when learning the bracket had come off: "Were you eating something hard, that you're not supposed to eat?"

Carrie: "Ramen noodles."

Me: "Oh. That's not supposed to happen."

Carrie: "No kidding."

She managed to recover the bracket. I put it in a snack bag to keep as a souvenir.  ;)

My pleasure. This little archive will be something I can enjoy for years after she gets her braces off!
