If you want to go for it, go to a different ortho. It is not as if they will report you to each other. Someone will take you business.

I'm going for a consultation on Monday so will find out what's advised! I went for one 7 years ago and was told that only metal braces would work, wish I hadn't chickened out! These days things have come a long way...

To update, whilst I do apparently have an underbite (front teeth meet) and malocclusion the ortho said my bite was okay and wouldn't do braces. Shame as it would have been great to get the underbite fixed.

nice to have treatment extended - at least for you!  I remember trying to talk my wife into keeping the on longer, but she did not want to be in them any longer than she had to.  I was kind of bummed when she got them off.  The follow up visits I've gone to with her for the retainers are just not as fun as the ones when the braces were on.

Partially due to my somewhat last-minute business trip to Kentucky (starting tomorrow), and her desire to extend treatment, Carrie rescheduled her forthcoming adjustment. Initially scheduled for April 12, it's been pushed all the way back to May 19. I was frankly a bit shocked that it was moved back over a month, but I'm not going to complain!

Obviously there won't be an adjustment video this month, but I am going to have her record videos on her favorite cleaning tools and a retrospective on a full year in adult braces. We've been meaning to get to these two vids for a couple of weeks, but the last few weekends have been very busy with trips to Vegas, pool parties, concerts, and other things. She'll have some free time while I'm in Louisville, though.

I was able to do this with one of my wife's sets of fake braces, which didn't have headgear tubes. Basically, I used a wire cutter to clip the inner bows on the facebow, then I curved the ends into a "U" shape with needle-nose pliers. She'd wear it by placing the "U" behind the upper canine brackets, between the archwire and teeth. Attach a strap (we usually used cervical, but sometimes combi) and it's surprisingly sturdy and secure. Just be careful not to clip the inner bow too short.

Wish I could post some pics. Message me your email address if you'd like me to send you a picture.

I have damon braces right now and I'd love to find some way to attach fake headgear to them.  Is there any kind of way to do it?

In about an hour, it will be exactly one year since Carrie got her braces. The year has been an incredible experience and a tremendous amount of fun (at least for me). The year has certainly flown by, though I've tried to enjoy it as much as I possibly could. I think I've done a pretty good job documenting it, too, between the YouTube videos and the Flickr albums.

We were originally going to celebrate today at home, but a very close friend invited us to her "first BBQ of Spring" party, and we're going to that. We'll push off the "Brace-iversary" celebrations until tomorrow. Plans include making at least one video, some time in the dental chair, and of course lots of sex. What better way to celebrate a momentous event?

I did get her a little gift for the occasion, which has already appeared in a Flickr pic: a cool new pair of sunglasses from Warby Parker. I'm not sure which she likes more, sunglasses from Warby or shoes from Johnston & Murphy! But springtime calls for a new pair of shades.

Been in braces 3 times along with Jaw surgery on last set to fix underbite, so; high lights would be reversible Headgear, rapid pallet expander, and lower expander on first set. Last set after jaw surgery (developed a relapse and to remedy that and refrain from TMJ) currently wearing Traction Headgear with a rubber lipbumper (what I'm wearing in my avatar) lowlights are my second time in braces where all I had was elastics the whole time and nothing more. Really Mundane.

I am enjoying every second of my current orthodontia and feel very fortunate for the geard situation I'm in :)

Yeah, she's really cool about that kind of thing. Part of the reason I chose her is because of her open-mindedness and eagerness to please, and she definitely hasn't let me down! It did take time and persistence on my part to bring her to this level of understanding, though.

The Alibaba man has responded, with a price of $88-$150 - not sure that he understood exactly what I was asking about (Chinglish!). I will reply and ask him to clarify exactly what it is that we need, and ask for a picture of a sample.

Hi Braceletta, yes sounds interesting, did they mention a price, things in china are much cheaper then in europe,i presume you would have to send them your teeth impressions which might take quite a bit of time.Definately worth a go through, keep us informed of your progress.

Not much to see progress wise with the appliance since it is training the tongue. I posted a pic of the appliance when it was removable. I’ll find it and post again.  My plan on braces is to post every month or two pics of how it all looks

Haha, in fact we do have a chair! But I don't know where we'd come up with an "assistant" for that, sadly.

In case the Braces Shop cannot make this, I have sent a request to a Chrome Cobalt denture manufacturer in China (through Alibaba).
We might be able to do a group buy, if the Braces Shop don't have the equipment?
