Is anyone wearing a removable appliance?
« on: 19. May 2007, 08:13:22 AM »
Hi guys, i got a removable appliance on the 1st of March this year which is gunna expand my upper jaw, so theres more space for my overcrowded teeth to move in to. And make them straighter too (of course!). I was wondering if anyone else out there is having this treatment instead of braces and wanted to know how it's going (or went if your all finished)? Especially if you had it done as an adult I would like to hear from you! ;D
Thanks
!

Cool, so hows it going with the plates? I am really considering changing to braces  ???(can't believe I'm saying this!) cause it'd be faster and maybe cheaper (I seem to be paying heaps). I dont know, maybe I'm just impatient and I dont wanna be a pain and change the treatment plan now! The plate is doing something cause I am probably getting a bigger one made soon, but all I can see is the midline gap so far. Apparently its gunna take ages for my worst tooth to come in to line. So you have two plates? Hmm is it horrible wearing one on the bottom?

I wear them upper and lower, and they are great - I can take them out if I want to go out and be "wireless". My speech was a bit lispy for about a week but fine after that.

PS - I had normal braces before, these are just for finishing, no big movements. But they are much easier to wear, and I only need them for 16h a day. So I can go to work with no braces, then just wear them at home.

The lisp will become less and less noticeable with time  ;)
