I had several configutations. I wish I could have midline elastics. They look so neat across the front of the teeth.

I just had two class III elastics, one for each side, from the lower canines to the upper molars. Had to wear them only at night for three months.

I had Class II from canine to first molar for all but 2 months of my 2 year treatment.  The last 6 months was nighttime only.

Currently rocking one on each side, going from second hook on top to last hook on bottom for an underbite? Strength is Galapagos Giant Tortoise.

I've heard that if you don't wear them you can end up with springs as an unremovable alternative? Is this standard or based on the individual case? tbh springs sound pretty fun compared to elastics, though I'm to the point where NOT wearing them hurts pretty bad.

There are various forms of spring that can be used to do a similar job to elastics, but they are by no means a standard progression.
I think most orthodontists would just keep telling you to wear them, and your treatment time would just be extended.
Certainly the majority of people I knew who didn't wear their elastics just ended up with extra months in braces.

How is the feeling with elastics? Do they get more tension, if you open the mouth? And if yes, does it hurt to open the mouth completely?
