Hi,

I am in the exact same situation I sent them an email today and they said there was a delay with the impressions as they run out.
They said the material should arrive 'soon'and an email will be sent out as soon as they have been sent.

What did you order?

Thank you. I received the same email. I ordered an upper hawley with headgear. You?

I bought Modified Twin-Block with pelottes and Telescope Appliance but with fixed brackets and headgear tube - fits very well and difficult to speak.  Went into town wearing it last night and had a few stares - went into a shop and got a drink

I have been thinking about getting a modified twin block after my hawley with headgear comes. Did it fit well right out of the box? Do you have pictures?

I've also been wondering about the modified twin block. I plan on ordering as soon as the store is accepting new orders again - not sure if I should go with the modified or original twin block. I'd like to be able to wear them in public and interact with people while wearing them, reading other people's experiences seems to indicate that it is very difficult to speak clearly while wearing the modified twin blocks, but that it is possible.

Do you have experience with this? Or has anyone here bought the original twin blocks rather than the modified ones? Or perhaps there is another plate that I am missing?

Hi,

I bought the modified ones, and requested to make them massive and thick. See here the result:

And i just love them.
i wear them as much i can and i highly recommend them.

Adivse: request of a wax plate. so you can position your lower jaw where you want to have it. As the herbst is keeping your lower jaw front. (dont do it too much as your jaw really is being pushed forward. I just placed my lower front teeth in line with my uppers.)

Speaking is possible but very lispy and not that easy.

I love the full filling of acrylic in my mouth, the shop did a great job!

Hope you find this info usable, please feel free to ask more :)

Kind regards,

Thank you Bracejazzz, your setup looks great. Will you please expand on the "wax plate"... what does it allow you to do/how? What is the difference?

Yes, I'm also curious! I like the look of the herbst like hinges, but I don't think I would wear the hinges in public, just the plates. That's kind of why I'm thinking about just doing the regular twin block. Maybe they would be able to put an expansion screw on the lower plate for me.

Bracejazz, do you wear them in public at all?

Yip,

Yday went shopping with TB+HG. No problem.

About the wax plate, you will get this with your impression kit, when requested.
you just warm the wax, place it in your mouth, and bite down. But remember to push your lower jaw a bit forward. (I alligned my front lower and upper teet)
Then when you receive your braces, you will notice that your lower jaw cannot be pushed backwards further then you make the impression. They kinda lock your lower jaw from moving back.
I love the feeling as its a constant reminder you wear braces.

Kind regards,

Yes. I remember when I got impressions for my activator / bionator (not sure), they used a wax plate to get the top and bottom registration right.
It does hold my bottom jaw a bit further forwards than feels "normal".

I received my impression kit last week and just got an email that BracesShop has received my impressions and is starting on my upper hawley retainer with high pull headgear. I can't wait for it to arrive!
