There is a character that is driving a car when Ann (main character) has a friend visiting from the east. She appears in one scene where she talks to the passangers in the back seat for a second and another where she takes their picture, both sporting a retainer. Another friend appears in two scenes, displaying her retainer in only one and (bearly) another one-second shot. The lead character's mother dates an Orthodontist for a while in the story and arranges for Ann to get braces, but her mother breaks up with him before anything happens.
