Years with braces
« on: 04. December 2020, 04:17:52 AM »
I have a question for you. What is the longest treatment you have seen or have done? I have seen two long treatments with women, one that takes 6 years and another that takes at least 8 years, but it could be more.

I have a friend who had braces for 7 years, she got them on in primary school and instead of doing two rounds she just kept them on the entire time.

Someone in my class got braces when she was 12 if I remember correctly, but her teeth were crooked for a long time after that, so she only got them off when she was 18.

I spent a total of 11 years, but no consecutively.  3 stints:  5 years (including headgear!) during high school, 2 years in college, and then 4 in my mid 20's.

My wife has had her braces for 7 years now, after a hiatus she tried to resume treatment earlier this year but COVID has delayed it further

I’ve had braces for seven years across two treatments, and I’m currently almost two years into a second treatment

Sorry Im confused, second treatmenr as in apart of the 7 for the two treatments or a new one entirely?

I've had braces for 10 years combining 3 different times. I am going in for my fourth time at the end of Jan.

I am talking about a single long treatment, there can be several and but there are not many years of difference between one and the other.

I'd say my wife will have had her braces for 7.5 years when she finishes treatment, we'll have to wait and see though!

How can it be 10 years combining 3 times and now 15.5 years combining 5 times after a mere 2 year time frame ???. I mean yeah, you could have it for another 3.5 years, but what seems unrealistic to me is you get them two years ago and now have them again. At that point, just keep them on the whole time! Also, 15.5 years seems like a really long time, no matter you are.

Seems a bit fishy to me.

She eventually got them off after 8 years, 11 months and 3 days. A good innings!

I see many Brazilian women on Facebook having braces for 3 years or more.  Some much longer, like
https://dereferer.me/?https://www.facebook.com/adriele.teotonio, have had them over 10 years.

Very interesting subject !

Like many of you, I love when orthodontic treatments last during more than the classical 2 years long.

It's pretty rare when the treatments last longer. Sometimes, it can happen everywhere in the world for 2 and a half or 3 years, especially when there is a surgery.

But I see sometimes ladies that keep their braces during 4, 5 or 6 years, maybe more. It's nearly always Brasilian women.

The ten years and a half mentionned above seem to be a record.

I'm pretty sure that when the treatment last more than 4 years, that's the patient who wants to keep the braces, like this woman. I think in that case, the braces are more viewed as an aesthetic or a fashionable object than a medical device.

It would be interested to check if a treatment can last that kind of duration for real medical purpose.
