Can I ask my orthodontist to give me an underbite

Weird title I know. Keep reading!!!  :P

I obviously woudnt want an underbite. However, my chin is somewhat "overbite-ish" looking. I don't have an overbite, but I would Like a more prominent jaw. Could I ask my orthodontist to straighten my teeth AND pull my jaw foreword a bit? Weird question I know. I'm mostly just curious as to whether this is possible or not.

It is possible, of course, but I think that very few orthos would do it. It is against their "religion". They make people beautiful not "ugly according to their opinion". But you can try.

You can definitely get them to straighten the teeth, but I wonder about the underbite thing. I mean, to an extent, this is cosmetic surgery. You can go into a plastic surgeon's office and ask for specific changes to your nose or chin to whatever you think looks better. You would think this would be the same, as long as it doesn't ruin your bite.

I say it's worth a try. You'll probably need to try a couple different orthos.
