Title: stupid retainer!

Hi, my retainer is so annoying! i can't even talk properly with it in my mouth. can someone tell me how to talk with it in the mouth cuz i'm really annoyed! >:(

I guess its a Hawley type retainer. Plastic plate with wires?
It will feel strange at first but you will soon get used to it.
The main thing is to keep it in all the time and talk as much as you can. Talk to yourself, talk to the animals and anything that cant answer back!
When I got mine, I noticed it most when I was using the phone and I sounded different. Other people didnt seem to notice.
You will know you have made it when you finish talking to someone and you suddenly realise that you did not notice the retainer.
Ive had mine for about 6 years now. I am very self conscious if I talk without it. I keep falling over words. Its just the opposite to when I first got it. It feels natural to have that plastic there and not right without it.

How come you have got a retainer if you have only just got braces?
