Probably a bummer for all of those in the middle of treatment and getting their orthodontic aligners by mail.  Invisalign and orthodontis everywhere must be thrilled.  Hearing what a real orthodontist has to say is probably a little threatening to some who might now need real braces.

Damn, I got my (metal) braces through a company related to them. I don’t think my ortho is owned by them (at least I hope so.) They did offer me the option of having them, but I didn’t take them because one, I obviously am on here so I at least like braces a little bit, and two, I was weary about this mail-in stuff when I don’t actually go to the orthodontist, and I could see real issues with that. I also do know my ortho uses their weekly “scanning,” which is where I have to take pictures of my teeth and bite and such, so I’m not sure how that is going to go. We’ll see.

So, now we know WHY they were able to provide aligners a lot cheaper: they ended up owing $900 million!!! They were pretty much giving them away!

I believe part of the issue was that, because of the lack of close patient supervision (coupled in some cases with the stupidity of the patient in some cases I'm betting!) they were being sued by a few people...

They ran a long advertising campaign on British TV I noticed there ads stopped being shown which did surprise me a bit given that they were everywhere.
