Sharing your secret with your significant other
« on: 03. October 2020, 02:59:55 AM »
How have you shared your hidden desire for braces with a significant other? I'm sure if you've been with the person for some time they should have some idea of your interest, but actually asking the other person to pursue treatment (if medically warranted) or to fulfill your fantasies with fake braces is a bold step which I'm curious how others approached.

I've been living with my bf for almost 8 years now. at the beginning I was giving hints of my orthodontics interest, he seemed to get it, he mentioned it a couple of times, but after some time he never mentioned again and neither did I.
he never really understood what it is like to have a fetish. he thinks that I find braces cute or beautiful to look at, idk. and I think he can't get the real situation cause he doesn't have a fetish.

I am terrified that someone I know knows, since in Latin America fetishes are taboo, and apart from that, if it is braces, they already qualify you as sick, when it is something normal like any other.

Yeah! I also live in Latin America and it IS a taboo. I can say that nobody I know knows that I'm interested in braces and yet I don't want anyone to know.

And let's not even talk about the extra braces, I think someone from Latin America prefers to lose teeth, rather than use a headgear. What's more, if someone finds a video with a headgear in Spanish, it's like winning the lottery, literally.

Been with my girl for 8 years, I've hinted at it. She had invisalign before we met but her bottom teeth have shifted a little. So I joked that we should get braces together. She looked at me like I was crazy so that was the end of that haha. I don't know of any other way to approach it

You are a very lucky guy. I might try to bring it up again sometime, maybe weekend night when everything is a little more relaxed. Thanks for the advice!

Thought I'd pitch in here for my first post
I've had a thing for girls with braces for as long as I can remember
My GF had braces when we first went out but got them off soon after
I kept my secret from her for over 5 years... Then a year ago I came clean when she mentioned about getting them again. She was shocked but is now totally on board and is actually excited herself about getting them again soon!
My advice is that if you've probably got little to nothing to lose by telling your significant other, you might even find they'd love to indulge you ::)

I did it like so: https://www.bracesforum.net/general/how-to-tell-your-wife-girl-friend-you-love-brace/msg113788/#msg113788

I'm glad I did, because it led to: https://www.bracesforum.net/orthodontic-treatment/wife's-braces-journey/

First time reading this too, the whole thing is awesome!
Sorry if you've answered this elsewhere but, do you have fake braces for your wife now? How do they compare for you personally?

Thanks man, glad you liked it!

I have fakes being (re)fabricated right now. The last set was "lost in the mail."::)

She had fakes before she got real braces, and those were really fun. I have a ton of pics and vids of her in fakes, too. We had one pub we'd go to once or twice a week where she'd wear her fakes. Everyone thought she had real braces for years, it was awesome. I'm hoping to recreate something like that when her new fakes come in.

The fakes are really fun, even if they're not quite as good as the real thing. She'll wear them (or her Hawley retainers) whenever I want, though.

In the early years of dating and then getting married to my wife I tried unsuccessfully to share my attraction; I couldn't bring myself to open up to something so out of the ordinary (in my mind).  In the course of living the conversation would come up about orthodontics for various reasons.  The most exciting was when the dentist asked my wife if she was interested in braces; the wife never had them and over time her teeth have shifted.  I can remember every time it has come up and dared to imagine if she went through with it.

Within the past year I finally admitted it to her when I initiated a conversation about desires we may have hid from each other.  She laughed and called me weird and then said she would choose white as her color if she ever got braces since it went well with her skin tone.  It hasn't come up again, I'm still a little apprehensive about openly discussing my attraction to braces.  Maybe someday I'll speak about it again with her.
