my partner getting braces... BUT
« on: 10. November 2011, 12:05:07 PM »
To cut long storey short, my partner knows I like braces as a fetish and so does she, although not as much as me. She will play up to it for me, she has fake fixed braces and headgear etc. She used to have braces before she met me, and even headgear (although never wore it apparently) so her teeth arnt that crooked, although she didnt wear her retainer enough... The bottom teeth are a bit crooked and the top only slightly. Anyway she's decided to get real braces. We have the first appointment next week. Partially because she wants to straighten them and partially because she knows I like it.

Anyway the question is... How do we get the orthodontist to put on exactly what we want. I have already asked for standard fixed metal braces, which they said is fine. We also didnt want them to put braces on the top only for a short time and on the bottom for a longer time, so I said can they be both be put on and taken off the top and bottom at the same time, they said yes thats usually what happens as they have to be aligned together. So I guess those 2 things are sorted.

We also want her to have hooks on the canines and on the lower molars to put on class 2 elastics (ocassionally for fun) but by the looks of it most braces come with all those hooks on anyway.. So am I right in thinking I dont have to worry about that?

Ideally tho we would also like her to have molar bands with headgear tubes (to wear headgear occasionally for fun).. How could we break that to the ortho? she had molar bands when younger but im worried they might try and use molar brackets, or bands without tubes? I thought we could request it just saying that she had the same when younger and its for familiarity/nostalgia? Or perhaps promise the ortho we wont mess up the treatment but to give her molar bands with tubes so she can wear headgear to a 'Geeks' fancy dress? The other option is being honest and just asking for it but we're a bit scared of the embarassment.

Help me out, what should I do? Initial consultation is next week and this is real, no bullshit!

Thanks

I got my headgear (attached to a hawley retainer) by telling the ortho I want one "to freak out my friends".  She objected a bit, but after a bit of jostling, she agreed.

Thats a good idea actually! We could say she still has her old headgear at home and could wear it for a laugh to scare friends.
With you that's going to the effort of welding tubes onto the hawley aswell so I doubt its any effort for them to put in headgear tube bands

Look, I paid for it - make no mistake - but the cost I was willing to bear.  convincing the ortho to do it though was a different matter.  she was very reluctant, and it was only because of my charms that she did it.  I'm starting to run out of elastics for my ehadgear though, have to get some new ones...  wonder how i'm gonna wangle that.

Discuss headgear therapy in your consult, see if it would be appropriate and willing to do it. It might shorten treatment, I asked and I got it when I had treatment. Your ortho should be acceptable to variations such as wire ligatures if you know what to say. I got wire ligatures because I said I was going on vacation and did'nt want any problems, I got em, Good luck

Yesterday I talkd with my girlfriend telling her that if she wants to make her teeth straight, our orthodontist is a very good one: no pain. She said that next times she'l talk to him, asking q few questions about it.
I'd like she'll have tubes for headgear, and I'm thinking about asking our orthodontist for them, as a joke between us.

Yeah do it. Just try asking them. My girlfriend has braces now and they wernt gonna use headgear tubes but they put them on anyway coz she asked for them. She also asked for brackets with the elastic hooks which they said they would but when they put them on they couldnt find any (apparently patients complain about them, but if they dont use hooks how do they correct class ii nd iii? Crimpable hooks?... She was worried at first when she came out the ortho that I would be disapointed but honestly im not that bothered. Just her having real braces and molar bands with tubes is a dream come true enough!! She lets me do what I want with them.. Touch, play, tounge, whatever. For some reason she finds it a turn on when I really get my fingers or tounge in there. She will wear the headgear I bought on occasion for fun etc. let me photo, video her (and no im not uploading lol them for obvious reasons lol) I feel very lucky.. She is amazing. Also kinda feel bad bragging coz I know for alot of people it would seem an unobtainable fantasy but I guess im telling my story so people can know it is possible...

Hi all,

regarding the headgear tubes - many orthodotists use only bands with these tubes because it would be more expensive to have two different kinds of bands in stock.

When I had my brackets on some 10+ years ago I didn't have any hooks on the brackets, although I did have elastics to use. My ortho just used wire ligatures and extended them in a way that made it possible to hook the elastics on it. My elastics plan changed several times and the advantages of this way was that I didn't have any hooks bothering my lips on brackets where they were not needed that time.

Have fun with your braced girlfriend ;-)

Finally yesterday I told my girlfriend about my fetish for braces, that I often have fantasies about her with braces.
She was happy about this, and she told me to search fake braces in internet, before to ask out orthodontist  :D :D
