Howdy folks!
I just got my braces on a few months ago this year. I've already tried dark blue and neon green, but what do you think would be the best braces color to go with so that they're as noticeable as they can be?
This could be mono-colored, or color combos. I've also looked a fair bit into color science like intended emotions, but I'm super curious for other opinions.
-
I've thought about getting dark blue bands for my ceramic braces which would make them very noticeable but haven't yet tried it.
For metal brackets anything bright/neon colored would work well, like a bright blue. But black or teal are also very noticeable.
-
Neon green and baby blue is a noticiable combo

That’s my favorite combo! Especially with navy power chains

What is? Ceramics + navy powerchains?

Yes! The message that combo sends to me is a repudiation of the point of ceramic braces. “Yes, I wanted to hide my braces, but now I proudly make them visible to the world.”

Yeah I like that thought as well!
I do want to try navy bands at some point, so far light blue was the most adventurous I've been with my braces. I genuinely like the look of ceramics and colored bands, but in reality it's sometimes also nice when they're not too flashy

Nice! I think I'll actually try this one for one of my coming appointments. I do like the brighter softer colors. Tbh a trouble with picking some colors like pink or purple to combo with others is that they're pretty feminine colors, even when combined with ones like light blue blue and neon green, and since I'm a guy I'm not sure what brighter colors I can get away with without looking too strange, ya know? Thanks for the reply! ;D

Omg, when I was having my treatment my orthodontist told me a very similar story about some girl who was also having her treatment done, who got clear braces but in the latest visit had demanded for purple ligatures!

Howdy Howdy friends! Hope y'all are all well. Bit of an update in the braces department: Got my top powerchains! Since I just had them on the bottom before, I thought they looked a little out of place, but now, I'm very pleased with the combinations (however limited due to the use of powerchains as opposed to individual bands) I have planned for the next few appointments. For the fall season, I decided to take a chance with Neon Green powerchains on top, and Orange powerchains on bottom. (Pumpkins!) and I was admittedly quite nervous about requesting them this last appointment, since I couldn't find ANY example pictures of people trying these colors in ANY configuration, let alone in the pattern I was imagining, BUT,
I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that not only do the colors work VERY well to achieve the Autumnal theme I was going for, but they also fit my strong preference for bright, noticeable color combinations! SO I figured I just had to leave the recommendation for those among us lucky enough to be rocking our own tin grins ;D As for the Winter season, my absolute favourite, the current plan is to go for a combination of Red and either Neon or Dark Green, depending on the configuration I think would look best. If you lovely folks have any other recommendations or experiences of your own, PLEASE feel free to share!
Stay safe, and Much Love <3

Ayo friends! The Neon green and Orange powerchains have proven to be quite a popular look! I'm pleased to report that I've received many nice compliments regarding the colored rubber adorning my metal mouth!
As for the colors of my next appointment, since the holiday season is my favourite, I'll of course be going for Green powerchains on top, and red powerchains on bottom. The colors had been set in stone for some time, but the exact configuration took some consideration.
For the appointment after I was very blessed to receive many recommendations on what post-Christmas colors to sport.
Among these were Purple and Light blue, Purple and red, and Neon green and Pink. These of course all suit my preference of bright noticeable color combinations, staying course for the goal of the most flashy and obvious metal mouth I can muster! ;D
Feel free to contribute any combinations you've had experience with that suit our flashy purposes. Who knows who might see these threads and think "Huh I like that idea!"
I hope you're all safe and doing well! :)

Heheheh, try Bright Red brackets, and Pink Elastics! ;D

I like that idea! Tho I only have clear elastics for the moment. Would they provide me with colored ones if I requested them?
-
Burgundy was my favorite when I had braces.
Burgundy looks great, male of female, metal or ceramic. Always a good choice. Makes your teeth look super white.

I'm sure they would!

I've never thought about burgundy! What colored elastic do your think would look good with those? Since I'm in powerchains I'm a little limited on the configurations for color combinations, but I think burgundy would be a fun one to try!
-
I'm sure they would!
Tbh I'm a little nervous to ask! What colors do you think I should ask for?
-
Well, i reckon the red/pink elastics and wire combo would be pretty noticeable.
-
I quite often have hot pink or teal. They are really noticeable
-
Neon colors are super noticeable.
-
If I got metal braces again, I think I'd do black chains against white teeth, show up really well and still look professional if needed. Add bright red elastics for fun and I would have to try would be bright red chains with black elastics. Maybe neon green and neon blue chains in the summer with orange elastics
-
Anything neon always stands out to me
-
I wish they had more colors at my ortho's. The selection they have is very lame
-
black because of the contrast, no color combination catches the attention more than black and white.
-
Update! ;D
This past appointment, I chose Cobalt blue on top and Purple on bottom, as well as requested colored elastics (after working up quite a nerve XD). I was given a few bags of multi-colored bright neon elastics! Neon green, Neon pink, Purple, and Neon orange! I can say for certain I've had a blast coordinating these colors with different outfits and themes of holidays! The one downside being there were no blue elastics :( Still! I'm looking forward to trying either Light blue and Pink, Neon green and Pink, or Navy blue and Purple for my next appointment! I've loved your recommendations! ;D Please feel free to add more!
-
I say red. It blends in with the gums and always made me double take.
My school's colors were red and white, so it was a common site.
-
Neon yellow and orange is really noticeable.
-
It's certainly been a hot minute, but
Update!
Navy blue and cobalt are some really good staple colors to rock out with as a good baseline. They're also consistently some of the most noticeable colors you can have, since they tend to stand out way more from a distance. I'm thinking the darker shades will do that anyways since your teeth are so light by comparison. This past visit I gave the good old "surprise me" answer, and was pleased to get a very nice turquoise set of powerchains on both jaws! I'm loving how bright and fun they are! Very good for a tropical kind of feel. For the next appointment I'm thinking of going with a dark purple or lavender depending on what they have, will let ya know how it goes. Much love!

Black ligatures or power chains for the win! Makes the braces super noticeable and teeth look extra white. I had a girlfriend who had braces and always opted for metallic grey. It’s less ‘noticeable’ but does make for a more metallic look which is also nice.
-
Absolutely seconding black. It's bold, it's huge, it's impossible to hide! <3
-
I like dark, bold colors with powerchains, like black or navy blue.
With just ligatures, I like bright alternating colors, like light blue and orange. I don't see this often enough. I would do it all the time!
