Title: Kissing with braces
Post by: FallFromBrace on 28. November 2003, 15:22:31 PM
I'm writing a screenplay at the moment in which the female lead gets braces and is asked by her husband how it feels to kiss with them, but the problem is, I've never had braces myself so I can only speculate... Can anyone tell me if they know from experience, or word-of-mouth, what it is like to kiss with braces?

Any information would be appreciated...

~Danial

Ps - I don't want any assumptions or guesses... I can do that on my own 8)

When I was 17 my 16-year old girlfriend Crystal and I both had braces. She had elastics too. I remember the first time we made out thinking how sharp her brackets felt- not like they hurt or anything, just how much they stood out when I ran my tongue against them. The elastics also gave a strange feeling, they were all taut as she had her mouth wide open, and it felt strange to run my tongue across the tight rubber strip. Her mouth just felt really full, with all the metal, but it's the brackets I remember best, they seemed so big and sharp in there.

Other than the sharpness, it wasn't all that much different than kissing without braces. And as for braces getting stuck together, I think that's a myth, ours certainly never did.

 kissing with elastics is annoying because  of trying to get your tongue threw them  i had three elastics and i hardly kissed then but that was only for two months, my boyfriend didnt like it because of this rubber taste , we soon after broke up, because well yeah......... anyway braces are great !!!

But what about your own braces? Do you feel them when kissing, or just her's?? I'm looking for the experience from the braced-person's perspective...

I prefer to kiss girls with retainers, there is more to explore inside the mouth. Kissing with braces is not just frenchkissing, you have to explore a lot in your partners mouth.

But that's still kissing someone else with braces... Can you tell me what it was like to kiss when you had your braces?

Man, what kind of a response are you looking for? What does kissing someone  feel like when you're wearing braces? EXACTLY the same as kissing someone when you don't have braces! The only thing that feels different is when they have braces. Think about it- what did you expect?

I wore braces once. So did some girls I kissed. I tried to describe it for you. I don't know what kind of magical answer you're looking for.

That was the answer I was looking for! I thought maybe they'd be sharp on the inside of your lips when you were kissing someone or something... Like I said, I've never had them myself so I don't know these things...

Not quite.
It all depends on how much time has passed since the fitting.
As I understand it, she's an absolute beginner (her first day in braces)
and therefore kissing should feel  a lot different.
The whole mouth region would be more pain-sensitive for days
and kissing NOT EXACTLY a mere pleasure.

I made the experience thats it is specally exciting to kiss a girl with brackets. Ok, unforunately they were clear - but this doesn´t matter while kissing. It is not like kissing bomebody without. You can always feel some sharp edges and also the more smooth molar bands are great to feel.

Well. It's like this. I have recently started wearing braces, and have childhood experience with braces as well, so I can pretty much tell you. The very first day in braces they don't hurt as much and you don't feel as sensitive as the second and third day. The second day is the worst. The first day it's more about being a little uncomfortable, it's like your teeth feel, hmm, thicker,  that you can't seem to move your lips as fast and easily as you normally do, and THIS is what you experience while kissing someone on the day you got your braces.

For me now it's almost the same to kissing without braces, but sometimes I can't help feeling a little aprehensive on whether I may be hurting her with my brackets, or about salivating a lot; and now, well, doesn't really "feel" pleasant or unpleasant but  you sometimes feel when your brackets touching her, as you can feel the pressure but not the touch. Sometimes you feel very braces-conscious (like when it's the first time you kiss someone with your braces on) but you end up getting used to it.

The first day it was indeed weird for me and my wife, but it was mostly because I felt clumsy with my braces, and she was trying not to hurt me, and I was trying not to hurt ber. But that's not about the actual physical feeling. My answer, so, would be: "I dont know, a little weird, a little clumsy, but it seems like I will soon adjust".
