Do you like impressions? Can you tell me your story of making an impression? Did you gag?....

I only took impressions twice. The first time was the day I got braces put on and the second was the day I got my braces taken off.

I didn't gag, but was actively focused on trying not to.

The tray of alginate is put into your mouth, in my case one jaw at a time, and it feels gooey. The orthodontic assistant will time how long it stays in and feel the alginate to determine when it's solid. Then it gets pulled out, you wipe the excess off your lips and repeat.

I thought i was going to at first only with the top impession. The ortho assistant told me to concentrate on something else and i was fine

I had to make impressions 3x on both jaws and I'm only at the beginning of my treatment

I'm not too bothered, but last time they had to make  impression 3x in a row an of my upper jaw (no clue why)

My impressions last week were fine. I was surprised after hearing so many horror stories. They let me pick the flavor of the paste (I picked rootin' tootin' root beer). They did each jaw and I brushed. It was pretty easy.

Yup I got to chose a flavour too.... didn't find it a problem at all.

Quite a good seal it made - noticeable when removed
