If you had the magical power to give someone braces (or even yourself) with only one extra applicance, what would it be?
-
I LOVE elastics, but if I have to choose one, it's headgear. Nothing beats a braceface in combo headgear.
Elastics a close second.
-
Elastics but with Palatal expander ;)
-
I'd pick all 3 if I could, but this poll is to find out which one you'd pick as priority 8)
-
Elastics are the perfect enhancement to a silver smile!
-
 everything you can cram in to a mouth sounds good to me

I think a headgear looks great and is very obvious.
-
I think headgear is great, but not enough. When I see someone with headgear I always look what's else in the person's mouth. No braces = bad, fixed braces = better, but removable and speach-restricting appliances are the best.
-
Yeah, headgear without braces is a waste. Headgear with full metal braces, however, is amazing, and VERY attractive.
-
Hi
I would choose a palatal expander, the lisp its so cute and there is something to explore while kissing.

But it aren't the different phases of orthodontics half the fun? How about banded back teeth with bonded brackets on the front; cervical headgear at first and then graduating to elastics at the end. Perhaps even a lip bumper for a bit to get the lower teeth clean and smooth...

It's got to be headgear. Elastics are OK but other appliances like expanders are no big deal...
-
Headgear, definitely. Elastics are OK too but I would choose headgear...
-
Full bands with fixed palatal device.
-
elastics - definitely – they look wonderful (and kissing someone in elastics is just so yummy...), or a palatal expander for the lisp (mmmm), except I'm hard of hearing so don't usually hear it, cos all 's' sounds are a bit like that!!!
-
Elastics!!! It the fact that they are hidden that kicks, isn't it?
-
It has to be double interlandi headgear, just seeing two facebows moving up and down together between someones lips.

have you ever really seen that? lucky you!
-
definietly a headgear they look great
-
I think I would like to try a headgear too. But also a bunch of elastics sounds interesting for a try.
-
Given the chance, probably several things in the mouth is best:
Full braces with powerchain ( with complication of course)
Elastics (about 4-6) no more, no less.
Combo Headgear (High-pull+cervical) with single facebow
a pair of herbst
a appliance on the roof of the mouth...(i chose bite plane or expander)
something else i can't remember...
-
No one would go wrong with my favorite: metal braces and cervical headgear!
-
I'd have to go with elastics, getting a peek of elastics when a girl smiles just looks great.
-
Yep
Here i would like to wear
Fixed braces with elastics to being
After getting an Herbst and a cervical headgear would be really nice..
-
A couple days ago while I was at work, a girl who looked around 20 came up to ask me a question, she had blue powerchains on her braces and the colored elastics, it looked truly amazing.
So I'm going to have to go with elastics
-
i already have elastics and love them so i would go interlandi hg with upper and lower facebows with full bands
-
i think headgear, along with a bite plate
-
Palatal Expander - that ever-so-sexy lisp
-
My favourite would be a combination headgear with full bands and palatal expanders top and bottom.
A cute lisp and the good looks! Ideal combination.
-
Headgear!
-
I had (and still have) full braces (top and down), I had four elastics and combination headgear (without security device) with rather strong pull (300 gr and 280 gr)
This was the best time in my life!!!
-
Fixed headgear with a bitplate on it :D
-
My ideal would be upper biteplate and lower fixed braces with a combination headgear, then upper and lower fixed braces, still with the headgear and then retainers afterwards. I also have minor maloclusions, which this would fix :)
-
I’ve had almost every type of appliance available stuffed in my mouth at some stage or another.
At the end of the day, nothing beats the look – and feel –of a classic old-fashioned interlandi headgear. I’ve had the cervical – which is good, but the big one works best.
Lately I have a top Hawley retainer and an interlandi, which is wonderful for adventures, and wonderful for taking out and hiding in the drawer when the fun is over.
-
I wear full tops and bottoms with elastics. But I would also love to wear a Face Mask. Blue chin cup and forehead pad made of plastic with hella metal. Plus its amazing talking in it. the chin cup moves up and down with your chin... ;D
-
A wired in splint followed by cervical headgear...
-
Full brackets and a Bionator or Activator with a Headgear (combined of course!) ;-)
-
Elastics! Lots of them, and visible.
-
I'd give my gf a Van-Beek activator ;D
-
full metal bands and aktivator with double hg...crazy
-
full metal bands and aktivator with double hg...crazy
cool
maybe also an expanding activator?
-
yes sure...with 2 screws!!!! :)
-
cool
-
Combo headgear if I could only choose one!
-
Ide go for any or all the above but my favorites are headgears of any sort ( sexy) facemasks or my other personal faverout is a Herbst appliance any of those on cute girl which she would need to wear for at least 3 years.
-
As above, headgear or Herbst :)
-
headgear first and elastics second
-
I would actually love to be fixed into heavy headgear with Herbst biteplates and lip bumper :) lip bumper in pink or orange so its evident
-
Upper and lower braces, Herbst or Forsus because it can't be removed and creates nice little visible bumps under your lips and headgear to be worn 16-20 hours a day.
That would be a nice setup for sure!
-
Herbst appliance, elastics a close second though.
-
Headgear -- however elastics are a close second with some of the more complex configurations used.
-
It's hard to choose just one but I would go with full banded braces and headgear on me. ;D
-
Headgear, but expanders would be a close 2nd.
-
Headgear all the way - preferably double headgear! ;D
-
I would definitely go for headgear. But for a second place I'd choose expander because of the lisp.
-
headgear
-
For me, the expander! I love the lisp and the fact that it is installed 24/7. It's devious!
-
Why not all of them? But if I had to chose I would say elastics. The more the better.
-
Obnoxiously visible Headgear w/Bright colored Lipbumper.
-
headgear for sure! maybe even double facebows if i was feeling evil >:D
-

Double facebows would be so incredible to be strapped tightly into. Good choice :)
-
very old fashion headgear..
-
High pull headgear
-
To begin with, I'd love to spend some time with an activator. After that, I'd like to get full bands, expanders on both jaws, and a tongue crib tahtd make speaking very hard. I'd also love a Herbst appliance thar causes visible lumps even if my mouth is closed, springs, heavy colourful elastics, lip bumpers and high pull headgear.
-
Hmm, with only one additional appliance I would definitely opt for the Herbst Appliance (with expanders) again. Had it, hated it but also loved it at the same time. ;D
-
Expander and / or tongue crib.
Got the activator (and bite plate) !
Real preference would be full-palet bite plate with tongue crib.
-

That would be a dream treatment!
-
I'd go for the palatal expander, seems like such an adjustment to speak again! Also swallowing and eating seems harder, so I imagine it can be quite a shock. Elastics would be the last option for me, I've had them myself and although it looks impressive, I hardly felt them in my mouth. I could still open my mouth as far as I was used to.
-
I’d choose fixed braces with a large removable twinblock appliance in that translucent pink gum colour for my girlfriend. The plastic blocks would obstruct her tongue causing a significant lisp and I’d love to see the way it forces her lower jaw awkwardly forward and open a few centimetres. I’d enjoy watching her struggle to close her lips over her bracketed teeth and listen as she attempts to relearn how to speak with all the plastic covering the inside of her mouth.
-
Dual expanders plus herbst are my choice. Great visibility on the outside and a long time until proper speech is back.
-
Well... I have top and bottom braces with black power chains right now but I really dream about herbst appliance with double expanders and tongue crib! It will give me amazing lisp!!!! After one year I would also love to get a headgear!
-
probs Headgear
-
If I had to choose only one appliance it would be a tongue crib. I've been wearing one as part of my fake braces for nearly six months and it feels fantastic. Of course I like my other appliances too but there is something special about the tongue crib.
On the rare occasions when someone notices that there is something extra behind my braces, it makes an interesting conversation starter.
-
HerbSt appliance every time
-
I would choose elastics, because they are better in the everyday life.
-
Herbst with upper and lower palatal expanders and full metal brackets
-
I would choose full metal brackets on top and bottom, also with expanders and herbst.
Last but not least a combination headgear is obligatory with cervical strap and highpull.
