You would rather have a herbst appliance or Headgear? Of course both with full braces and double expanders
-
herbst appliance please!
-
I think I'd rather have a herbst appliance. I'd love to try out headgear briefly, but not as something I have to wear all day, every day. There's something just very interesting about herbst appliances.
-
Ah yes, the alliance of the herbst.
But for real, I'd probably say a herbst if I had to choose. The unremovable nature and less social impact of it is better, also how it restricts jaw movement and the feeling of it is more enticing.
-
Definitely the herbst. Fixed metal appliances are superior!
-
That is a very hard question. If it was a real treatment I'd choose a Herbst because it would still be exciting but not as socially crippling. But if I was just for fun I think I'd choose headgear. I would want that for just in home use.
-
Herbst I think. I've always been into the idea of inter-jaw springiness.
-
I had both and preferred the herbst
-
Interesting question!
I can't resist trying headgear, but I know I'd not have the compliance with it... so it would have to be replaced by a Herbst.
-
Definitely Headgear! A Herbst set would certainly be a challenge in more ways than one, but nothing beats the sheer presence that a brightly colored strap and a shining facebow bring. Like most appliances, a herbsts constant presence would eventually feel normal, while with headgear, the fact that you wouldn't wear it 24/7 would guarantee you'd never be fully used to it. Whenever you did wear it, you'd have a constant reminder it was there.
Not to mention the potential for going public with the most eye catching orthodontic appliance known to man would just be impossible for me to pass up ;D
-
Definitly Headgear. I fully agree withTin -Grin
-
on another guy: headgear.
for myself: herbst for my own pleasure, but headgear if I was planning to attract some guys (because headgear brings all the boys to the yard).
-
If I really had to choose ide choose a herbst appliance I think they have a certain appeal also the daughter of a family friend had a herbst so that's my reason
-
I had Herbst on a real Treatment for a year till november 20. Now i have forsus-springs and the best, if you know how, i can remove it an wear my Headgear (it is not part of the treatment). Herbst is nice, but Headgear is better! Both would be great, and i think it should work when the Herst is on the 7th teeth, HG on the 6 and the Loops pointing upwards.
-
@Maz73 How was your experience with the herbst? Do you have pics of your journey?
-
The headgear without a doubt, if it is double and / or double strap, the better. I'm not a huge fan of expanders, but if I need them, I won't turn them down. Time wise, I would love to connect or at least 20 hours, but realistically 12 hours would be what would work for me.
-
It's a great question, and one I'd need to sit down and think about, but I think Herbst would win. in real life - as opposed to fetish fantasies - a headgear gets really old really fast. So I'd take the Herbst

Yeah, I agree with you. In real life the Herbst wins. I just couldn't see myself getting away with headgear in my real life. Plus, I've always wanted to try a Herbst.
In a pure fantasy world though? Definitely headgear (combination high-pull/cervical, both with safety straps).
-
I have had to wear a headgear, which I wore 20+ hours a day. A herbst is something that is fixed I would like to try it myself.
-
Combination hg. It's always been my dream.
Although some of those custom interlandi catch my eye on occasion.
Although a Herbst 1, with no lateral movement would be exciting haha
-
Both a Herbst and Headgear would be amazing, but if I had to choose one it would have to be the headgear I think!
-
I have always wanted to try a Type 1 or 2 herbst. but I would probably say headgear, especially since I'm class iii
-
Would be interesting to experience a headgear, but I think I'd go for the herbst. Fixed just is more fun, especially if it comes with double expanders
-
I'd like both for fun! Herbst with double expanders seems fun. I prefer braces on others (I think?), but I do like the idea of having them. Especially as a couple!
-
I think having both at the same time would be interesting. But, I think I'd rather have the herbst. I have nothing to think about having to put in with my forgetful nature.
-
Now that I am wearing braces again, I also have to wear a headgear again 16 hours a day.
-
It's an interesting question as I haven't often considered braces for myself; I prefer seeing them on others. But if it came to a choice I'd pick the Herbst.
-
Definitely headgear for me.
