Herbst Alliance or Headgear

You would rather have a herbst appliance or Headgear? Of course both with full braces and double expanders

I think I'd rather have a herbst appliance. I'd love to try out headgear briefly, but not as something I have to wear all day, every day. There's something just very interesting about herbst appliances.

Ah yes, the alliance of the herbst.

But for real, I'd probably say a herbst if I had to choose. The unremovable nature and less social impact of it is better, also how it restricts jaw movement and the feeling of it is more enticing.

Definitely the herbst. Fixed metal appliances are superior!

That is a very hard question.  If it was a real treatment I'd choose a Herbst because it would still be exciting but not as socially crippling.   But if I was just for fun I think I'd choose headgear.  I would want that for just in home use.

Herbst I think. I've always been into the idea of inter-jaw springiness.

Interesting question!

I can't resist trying headgear, but I know I'd not have the compliance with it... so it would have to be replaced by a Herbst.

Definitely Headgear! A Herbst set would certainly be a challenge in more ways than one, but nothing beats the sheer presence that a brightly colored strap and a shining facebow bring. Like most appliances, a herbsts constant presence would eventually feel normal, while with headgear, the fact that you wouldn't wear it 24/7 would guarantee you'd never be fully used to it. Whenever you did wear it, you'd have a constant reminder it was there.

Not to mention the potential for going public with the most eye catching orthodontic appliance known to man would just be impossible for me to pass up  ;D

on another guy: headgear.

for myself: herbst for my own pleasure, but headgear if I was planning to attract some guys (because headgear brings all the boys to the yard).

I had Herbst on a real Treatment for a year till november 20. Now i have forsus-springs and the best, if you know how, i can remove it an wear my Headgear (it is not part of the treatment). Herbst is nice, but Headgear is better! Both would be great, and i think it should work when the Herst is on the 7th teeth, HG on the 6 and the Loops pointing upwards.

@Maz73 How was your experience with the herbst? Do you have pics of your journey?
