what would you say to an ortho when you want braces whatever it takes but you don't need them ?
I plan to get braces as soon as bitcoin explodes :)

right after I get my braces on I want a photographer waiting for me to get out of the ortho office and I want to smile 1000x :)

My wife didn't really need braces, but she consulted with seven orthodontists, all of whom were very happy to take our money and put her in braces. I doubt you really need to "say" anything. Just go to a consult or two and they'll find some little thing. Orthos want your money, and will find a reason to give you braces if you want them.

You won't have a problem getting braces. I had them almost 2 years and did not really need them. This was my second time with braces and loved it.

why did you not keep them longer than 2 years ?

Has anyone asked for additional appliances or elastics without needing them? I wonder how that would be received.

Thats actually a really good question. There are many appliances that are NOT functional until manual initiation of the device such as expanders and then appliances of which are essentially for maintainimg and or retaining. Even a headgear you could wear and literally have it exert NO pressure at all.

I didn’t ask for additional appliances during my treatment, but when it came time for retainers I decided to get hawleys even though my ortho recommended essix retainers. It was no difference in cost, just took them a few extra days as the lab had to make them (vs in-house tech making the Essix).
