Full bands
« on: 13. May 2005, 06:10:00 AM »
I have tried to collect pictures of full bands from 1980 and before without much luck.  I think it is easier to find headgear photos than full bands, other than those posted in old braces sites.

Any one else here like full bands?  I've always preferred the look of bands over bonded brackets but unfortunately full bands are seldom used or seen today...

I do like them much. IHMO the full bands are just like the mother-of-all for fixed braces. Just one thing is left from the full bands: the molar bands that normally are being used - but rarely to be seen :(.

Exactly.  It's been a few years since I've seen anybody with full bands.  But when I was younger they were the only type of braces that I knew...

I like the look of them too, and in theory a banded teeth has just 20% remaining surface for caries to settle, assuming that the patient cleans the remaining surface very regular and in-depth.

If you REALLY like them, you can still get them from any ortho. Bands are still sold for all teeth in all sizes, they just cost more to glue in, cos it takes alot more time and the bands cost a bit more than just brackets.

Ive talked to some peoples the last years who had Fullbands, one was a 40year old teacher on a highschool. But id not really like to get them my own, brackets are cool enough for me.

It is indeed much more difficult to find pictures of fully banded braces than headgear, unfortunately.

can you post those pictures somewhere?  and let us know where you post them?  you can probably post them on flickr but use a code and then let people in here know.  don't make it obvious
