I don't mean to disappoint, but I don't believe the young woman in the commercial has bands.  It's kind of hard to tell in the video, because the resolution isn't very high, but I remember seeing this commercial on television a few years ago.  I just don't think her braces are the banded type.  Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

Impossible to tell due to the poor resolution, unless someone can find it in hd quality I think we'll struggle to decide.
Did a little search, but I wasnt able to find it anywhere else.

My thought is that they are brackets and just look larger (closer together) than normal due to the low resolution.

I've been searching to find a better-resolution version of the commercial, but I can't find one.  I did find some references to this commercial and was surprised to see that they were from 2001.  I hadn't realized the commercial was that old.

I remember a Waterpik commercial from the late 70s or early 80s that definitely showed someone with banded braces, but I can't find a video for that either.  If I come across better-quality videos of either commercial, I'll post a link.

No chance that in 2001 one twin's otho was using bands while the other's ortho was using invisalign.

I have worked in schools and universities in high volume food service and dealt with literally thousands of 6 - 21 year old students over the years.  The last set of bands I saw was in 1989 on a 16 year old girl I was hiring for a summer job.  When I gave her the schedule she asked for her very first shift off.  I asked why and she was getting her braces off and she wanted the braces off more than she wanted the job.  I had not seen any full banded kids in three years and they were fewer and fewer since the late seventies. I told her my history and I remember her saying she was one of her ortho's last full banded cases.  Her ortho did not like the early bonding materials but even he stopped with full banded cases two years earlier.

My bands from the early 70's are museum pieces.  In 20 years it will be the same for the brackets they use today.
