Title: fake braces cost?
Post by: ekaj123 on 17. May 2018, 06:55:38 AM
Just curious how much people payed in US dollars for their fake braces? The cost varies so much depending on what appliance you get I was trying to get a general idea.

I paid about $250 for my wife's fakes about six years ago, which are Essix-style. This was from an American company that has since gone out of business, though. After that, I just taught myself to make them instead, so I'll probably just make her some new fakes when her real braces come off.

In UK, there's a couple of places on <a certain major UK auction site> that do essix retainers... about 40 quid each, 75 quid for a pair. make sure to select one that sends an impression kit. There's one listing I saw for only 25 quid, but you need to supply your own impressions

(search for "Essix Retainers")

I have some: nice & thick (1mm I think). Need to get another upper: had a crown fitted, and had to cut off part of the retainer to fit!!

The price for the products offered by braces shop are in euros. When anyone from outside Europe buys something, the actual price can change from one day to the next. If the value of the Canadian dollar goes up compared to the American dollar and the Euro goes down compared to the American dollar, then I can save quite a bit of money. It also works the opposite way.

Today the exchange is 1 euro to 1.50 Canadian dollars. That means that today the top and bottom retainers with brackets costs $556.00 Canadian. If I was in the United States it would be $433.36 American.
