I'm 24F and need braces myself soon (have straight teeth but an underbite and ill need jaw surgery to fix it). I was told I needed braces at 13 but the thought absolutely mortified me and seemed so embarrassing...I said no and never thought about it for years (despite not liking my smile). I developed a kink surrounding braces at that age that stayed, which made it all the more embarrassing too, and I tried to suppress the kink for a while.

Well now, after a failed Invisalign attempt to camouflage my bite, I definitely need traditional braces. I actually find braces really attractive on other people and a turn on, and am pretty turned on by the thought of the process of getting them installed (seems embarrassing but in an arousing way), of feeling them in my mouth for the first time and feeling them against my lips and with my tongue, the whole transformation aspect of it and having something "permanent" done to my appearance. But realistically, I never liked my smile even without them...I wonder if I'll think I look ugly and feel insecure about others seeing them?

I'm wondering if having this kink overrided any feelings of being less attractive or insecure for those who got braces themselves? Did you get turned on by the simple fact of having them, regardless of how they look/what others might think? Do you find them attractive on yourself? I want to feel confident and embrace the experience...and enjoy the weird kinky pleasure I get from it. Like I have this kink and an ability to indulge in it in real life, so might as well go all in with it, you know? but I'm just not sure if reality might be a let down or kill the fantasy...like if ill feel ugly/insecure and that kills the pleasure I might've had. I really don't want to feel that way or be insecure when talking to others with braces.

Iinterested in hearing your experiences!

Lately I've been wanting to put on braces more than ever, and just thinking about having them in my mouth makes me horny (a feeling I haven't felt in a long time, but that doesn't take away my love for braces), even today I asked about the possibility of a 2-year treatment, I really want to, am I overestimating them? I don't think so, considering that already being in a clinic already excites me. You just think about how your daily routine is going to change you, and if you are willing to live that, for my part, if I want it, and I want to enjoy them, but I don't think I'll wear them until next year, although I'll try get the treatment I want and not the one I need.

I think it lessens those feelings, at least for me, purely because I have this kink. I know back in the day as a kid I super scared, but now I enjoy having them. You get over the feeling of insecurity after the first two days or so when people see them, and you will find they don’t really care.

To answer ur question, absolutely!

Like yourself, I'd had the opportunity to get braces initially when I was much younger, but shied away from them out of a mix of fear and embarrassment for what I had no idea was a developing kink. I only ended up getting them right out of highschool after I'd realized just how bad my teeth really were thanks to soem x-rays. Hindsight, if I could do it over again I would for sure get them sooner.

With the installation itself, it had been planned months in advance, so I counted the days in anticipation until the day finally came, and when I was finally in the chair for the long haul, I could hardly contain my excitement. I'd say a downside to the kink would be the stress of trying to keep under wraps that you're enjoying it all so much, which definitely gets in the way of the experience.

Since finally getting them, I haven't had a single day I've regretted it. Little things like smiling in the mirror or running my tongue along my brackets after eating, even trying to smile more often just to make it as obvious as I can to other people I'm rocking a metal mouth, it's been a blast. I can already tell im gonna dread the appointment my ortho brings up getting them off, but there're always fakes that come with more appliances than I'd ever organically get from a regular treatment, so I at least have that to look forward to.

So go for it. Best thing to do in the face of those insecurities is just smile and wear it.  ;D They're YOUR braces, might as well embrace them and make them apart of you.

As some others said, for me the kink made it more enjoyable. I also had the same trouble hiding my enjoyment at appointments, but also I had sometimes where it upset me a little because I would ask a question to get a more in-depth answer and was looked at kind of funny. I still had the initial feeling of embarrassment for a little bit (first month or so) just because I feared people asking about them, because I feared I would go too in-depth. I was super sad when they took them off and still miss the metal in my mouth sometimes. But overall I had a great experience with them with the kink

I had the same experience. But how do you hide your excitement and your arousal sitting in the chair?

I found the excitement I had about my treatment more than made up for the feelings of insecurity I had over the first few days.  After that, the whole experience was enjoyable.

I remember many years ago my dentist said I may need braces I remember feeling both scared and a bit excited by the prospect sadly I never got them but just for a while the exciting prospect was nice to have.

Just do it
I am 30years old male wearing braces since 1 year will have a treatment time lasting 18 more months
I did it for mulyslef and wanted to do it since many years being able to afford it is great and you will see no one cares
Some of my close friends only noticed when I was 8month into treatment
You will enjoy the process I regret not taking early treatment pictures but now every occasion I take pictures

My experience was definitely more enjoyable because of the kink haha. I got a expander as a teen with brackets but because it was so exiting the annoying aspects where doable for sure :)) I really like the look of metal myself so it made it not so shameful to talk ect.
Now I like it more on others but I still would get braces myself again, just to lay there again and have someone decided everything for me and force them on me
Love braces and other dental stuff

I would have always dreaded the inevitable sign of excitement being worked on at the ortho. I don't know how I should hide it :)

It definitley helped me be less embarassed when i got mine, but i was also embarassed of having the kink myself. Getting any fun stuff for your treatment?

I'm not sure yet. What did you get? Also do you know for what reasons an adult may be required to have headgear? Or one of those appliances that's like a moving bar that connects top and bottom row?

What is the treatment you want/dream treatment? Also, please share your experience when you get them! I think I'm gonna make a post all about my experience when I do :)

Woah that's super awesome! Just reading your experience got me so so excited, I'm not gonna lie. I want to feel them in my mouth and part of me feels like I'll be embarassed and hide them from people I know but the other part wants to do the exaggerated talking/smiling to make them obvious for some reason. Ahhh, I'm like so excited. Did you not feel insecure about the appearance of them/how you look at all? I feel like it's gonna be SUCH a shock for me, idk how I'll react.

thats what I'm worried about. I'm female so no worries about it being extremely visible...but like I get so turned on by the thought of getting them on, I don't know how I'd hide that excitement. But maybe it happening in reality won't be as exciting because there's some fear with it being so REAL?? I don't know honestly.

ohh I hope the excitement overtakes the insecurity for me too. I can always wear a mask if I'm insecure/while adjusting too..but I feel like I'd really want to embrace them and show them off at some point.

Did you feel that enjoyment through the whole duration of having them? And eventually you felt attractive with them on right?

Ooh yeah that last part for sure. I feel like I like the somewhat subby aspect of it, being in this chair, others making decisions, cheek retractor in my mouth, not seeing how I look while they're applied. Also like the idea of making someone else get braces (in fantasy scenarios where its plausible). Like deciding I want someone in braces and having it scheduled for them, deciding they're getting metal ones, overseeing the application process (maybe filming it to embarrass them haha), and then teasing them about it afterwards...telling them they look hot and "needed" braces and yeah.

Definitely very out there and just a fantasy haha.

do you think you'd be so turned on it shows/you'd get an erection? It must be harder if you're a guy to hide it. I think my excitement will be nerves and fluttery feels and maybe I'd get wet but I hope not cause thats super embarrassing for me lol(even if no one knows it)

That appliance you’re describing is a herbst, and both are used for overbites. I’m pretty sure that they are both predominantly used in children and teens still growing, but there’s still a chance.

oh man, I have slight underbite. Oh well, just having metal braces would be very exciting for me tbh. Did you have a big shock when you got yours/how did you feel? (assuming you have/had braces)

I was excited to get them, and I was very pleased how they turned out. I have an edge to edge bite and am projected to need elastics and that’s it.

One thing you should keep in mind is that no natter how much you want braces there will be some physical pain when you first get them how much depends on your pain threshold I know you can take pain meds to releve it but nothing kills a fantasy more than pain. I'm not trying to put you off and I know you probably are aware it will hurt at least a bit but feel I should say something. I really wish I could have braces but for me it's impossible  so go for it if you can.

yeah, I bite the insides of my cheeks a lot so im anticipated the braces cutting up the insides of them which might not be so fun. I had Invisalign and the attachments kinda did that. The teeth moving/pressure pain isn't so bad though, I think I'll deal with it fine. Still would be exciting though. Why is it impossible for you?

I don’t know. Are you getting braces soon or have them? How has it been?
I’m like way too excited even thinking about it and no one can know because they’d think I’m insane haha. Like who is this pumped to be getting metal braces as an adult? Just me (and us here) I guess ????

Yes, I felt that sense of excitement throughout my treatment.  And by being really picky about the results and scheduling my appointments as far out as possible, I managed to turn a 9-12 month treatment into just under 3 years.
