I just heard a comment on absolute radio afternoon show that apparently British people have the worst teeth in the world! Now I don't believe it myself what do others think? Incidently if you want to listen to the afternoon show its on 1197 and 1215 AM from mid afternoon

Quite a few people here have a lazy attitude towards the dentist and orthodontist, mainly because until 19 years old in the UK it is free! Things are changing however, you see more and more adults with braces and adverts for Invisalign (I hate it) and 6 month smiles abound.
My parter has wonderful braces, she isn't English however ;)
I think it is an unfair stereotype, the 'worst' teeth I've seen would have to be in North Africa (sugary diet and lack of dentists?)

"British teeth" is not just a common insult - its as a direct result of the NHS which spares every expense.  They use cheap and nasty.  Another reason why the private sector is so much more efficient than anything run by a government.

I agree now it is almost impossible to find an NHS dentist I cannot afford a dentist and there are no state funded ones in my area. I would love to get braces but even a basic consultation cost £85 and treatment can be £2000 so way out of my and most peoples league its a shame but when your skint not much you can do
