Ok everyone, I have just created our OWN ParaChat chat room, just for chatting about Orthodontic Braces.... it's the same software that the old BracesChat chatroom used.

Ok, at GREAT EXPENSE (ok, so it was all of £2.39 per year!) I've bought a new domain name, and have forwarded it to the new ParaChat room. Hopefully you'll easily remember the url:
braceschat.eu or www.braceschat.eu - it doesn't matter whether you include the "www" bit or not!
('m in the middle of updating to a free "basic plus" ParaChat subscription right now, so that we can have extra features - such as reserved names with a password , so by using the "braceschat.eu" address - rather than a direct parachat.com link, it will be updated with whatever changes are needed)

Hi all
Nice to see lots of activity in the "new chatroom". A couple of things I'd love your feedback on:
1) For those of you that used the chatroom before about midnight, the main chat panel size was quite large... it's now smaller, and probably now more usable on a laptop-resolution screen (1360x768) or similar.
Please let me know if the size needs to be changed....
2) I've been playing with an "enhanced" version of the chatroom software: It adds the abilities to register your name (stops anyone "stealing" it), plus we get multiple chat rooms (as well as the private chat), plus an admin console (for trustworthy "admins"!) - the question is whether people think this is worthwhile.
If you'd like to try the "enhanced" chatroom, drop me a PM, and I'll give you the test URL.
Whichever you go for, I can recommend using an ad-blocker!!!

Another update:
The "slightly tweaked" Braces Chatroom is now live at braceschat.eu. This new setup allows you to create your own "room", allowing groups to have a private group chat. You can also "register" if you wish.
No registration is REQUIRED, just enter a name.
HOWEVER, if you would like to "reserve" a name (then it's password protected, so noone else can use it) then go to:

I visit sometimes but don't like the interface on my phone. It's too easy to accidentally exit and you can't see your own part in a conversation

If you know of any other chat system or software (free or cheap) that works better, and is simple to configure, I'd be happy to hear about it. I agree, Parachat isn't great

Not been in the BracesChat.eu chatroom for a while, but it's still probably a mix of (a) people who have a love of braces, and are open about it; (b) people who have a love of braces, but are pretending to not be, but pretend to have recently got braces; and (c) normal people, who actually DO have braces for real!
Category (b) are easy to spot, their braces are usually very extreme, and they hate them so much!!
I have a feeling that (c) is the minority :-)
Anyone else want to comment about the current user profiles?

I'd agree with Sparky, there's a surprising number of people who on their who have just got double facebows wired in, adults with bionators etc. It can be fun chatting with them sometimes but it's usually quite ridiculous fantasy

The females are for me very doubtful, i think many of them are actually guys, but thats what you get on the Internet of course
Nevertheless I had also some really nice conversations with similar minded people as me, and glad to know im not the only who likes to feel plastic in my mouth :)

Braceschat.com can be cool, like any chat room it depends on who you meet. There's a glasses and orthopaedic brace room too if you're into that too.

The Kik app for phones now has a chat room feature. None of the braces rooms are very active but perhaps it is time to start a bracesforum room. ;D

Is braceschat.eu offline.I have tried to log on at the weekend only nothing happens,as I'm registered to use it I throught it strange.Has anyone else had this problem.I agree it's easier to use then braceschat.com as it's much quicker although braceschat.com does have all of the conversation so that you can remember the question you last asked,very helpful if you're chating to more than one person.

braceschat.eu is just a virus here... cannot close the windows after oppening this chat !!

Braceschat.eu is annoying with the pop ups, also not being able to see what you have written is rubbish. If you accidentally hit 'back' (on mobile phone) it logs you out.
Braceschat.com is better, can be glitchy but you can see your full conversations and there's not spammy crap

Yes, I apologise that braceschat.eu does have those horrible ads.... but a good pop up blocker does seem to help
If anyone else wants to use the braceschat.eu domain and run a better chat room, I'll happily let them....

OK, people, let's have some feedback: have a try with the above chatroom, and tell us all how it compares with the Parachat room I use over at braceschat.eu. If the general consensus is that it's better, I'll happily re-point the braceschat.eu name over to it.
I already see 2 advantages: (1) the adverts are a bit more "tame"; (2) it looks a lot simpler to access

Right, thank you to a few of the braceschat.eu users, I've discovered bloochat and chatovod, the clients for which seem to be a LOT better than Parachat!
So, I've set up rooms to try out....please go take a look at both of them:

The same thing happened to me once or twice. I don't think it has anything to do with you as an individual, but the traffic across the whole room. I found it let me type again eventually, albeit longer than 20 seconds!

I've been in the Braces Worldwide chat room for a couple of weeks now. Seems like a fun group and there's some interesting content, though like all braces stuff, it can be slow at times. I recommend it if you want to chat with like-minded folks!

Weird. A bunch of us have been using it every day for weeks with no issues.
