Young woman Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes relives the horrors of puberty when she is forced to get braces. In once scene she meets a teenage girl with braces. The dialog goes like this: "Oh, I see you have blue braces". The teenage girl replies "They are not blue, they are saphire. I see you have the older braces. I didn't think they made them anymore.". After food gets stuck in her braces and a new date fears he'll get caught in Miranda's jaws, she dumps the braces.
