Huh.  Well, I know that the day before they went down, there was some discussion by one of the members who was worried about the increasing number of preteen and early teen pics that were being posted.  I replied in that thread, agreeing that pics of girls who appeared to be very young should probably be disallowed, given the success that some organizations have had at getting PT NN modeling sites' owners exposed in the local press (and hassled by the cops).

Next day, the site was down.  Sad  Wonder if the owner got spooked?   I suppose that, if he did, he probably had reason.  I know that around here, if someone falls under suspicion for kiddie porn, they post his pic on the front page of the paper the same day his house gets raided, right there for your coworkers and family to see.... but if it turns out he didn't have anything, they put that way back on page 13, next to the furniture store ads.  Sad but true.

Glad we still have bracesforum.de.  I'm gonna miss the thumbnails, though.

It worries me the number of young photos that get posted on here, I keep thinking, hey great some more headgear photos, and they are all of some very young dutch schoolkids or something similar. It would probably be wise if people stopped posting such innapropriate (and dangerous) material as it could get the best braces site shut down by the ISP.

I think the reason was probably because they had their own photo-gallery.
Linking to photos provided by the creator / owner and hosting photos without having any copyrights nor permission is a huge difference.
And also if they didn't had to close because of copyright-/personality-right violation, a photogallery causes so huge amounts of traffic that no "cheap" ISP will allow that for a long time.
Without hosting any images and with running in GZip-Mode, the forum causes ~ 15 GB of just-text-traffic / month. So you can imagine what hosting images would cause.

I think the site was around for a few months, but then the owner shut it down.

So did blorghus get spooked, or just get tired of running it?  Any idea?  Given that he seemed to have disappeared from the braces community altogether, I was guessing the former.
